The ‘50s was the Golden Age of Television. (I Love Lucy, The Honeymooners, Your Show Of Shows, Milton Berle)
The ‘80s was the Golden Age of Newspaper Comics. (Doonesbury, The Far Side, Bloom County, Calvin & Hobbes)
The 2010s was the Golden Age of Super Hero movies. Really, starting with 2008’s Iron Man.
What is in its Golden Age now? Dirty Politics?

Is the golden age of political correctness, and general charisma vs. intelligence.
Also quantum supremacy.
We are finally getting over what future people will call the “Stupid Ages”. I at least hope so?
How about Bad Waitressing?
I have been suffering at the hands of amazingly inept waitresses lately. I also know of a couple restaurants that have been trying to open/reopen, but haven’t been able to hire capable staff.
@filmfann I rarely eat out, but when I do I usually stick to a few good restaurants, that they get to know me. As I don’t stiff them with a paltry tip.
I rarely have any problems in person. It’s online that screws up, and when they do I don’t feel scared pushing the help button on my online customer support.
@filmfann FREE tip…when choosing where to sit, go for the “more mature” waitresses!!! The younger ones think all their job is, is just making sure to sit a plate in front of you. They don’t care if it’s your plate or if the correct order is on it. They also don’t believe in refilling your drink. They don’t care that you want any condiment. They do NOT believe in customer service!!! They don’t make minimum wage & they don’t make good tips due to their lack of attention, so working is a waste of time in their book because they make lousy money!!! Shoot for wait staff that’s 40 & over…actually, you can probably get away with 30 & over. Most of the wait staff under 30 thinks you owe them a tip just because they showed up for work that day & they looked at you.
Part of the problem is the restaurants themselves. They don’t appreciate the value of their wait staff & they’ll hire any warm body walking in the door. Although it looks easy, waitressing is a HARD job & NOT just anybody is suited for it!!!
My fave restaurant was smart, when the government closed down inside seating during the pandemic & said drive thru only, they brought in ALL their wait staff & cooks They became a drive thru with customers calling in their orders & the wait staff running the orders to the cars. The waitresses still received their tips & the kitchen staff got a paycheck every week. Once allowed to have inside seating once again, they had lost NO customers & they lost NONE of their wait staff nor their kitchen staff.
Now to answer your Q, I see it as the Golden Age of Growing Pains!!!
It’s the Golden Age of fake gold.
Crowd funded high quality furry erotica.
@filmfann
That is the restaurant’s fault.
People have in recent years awakened to the fact that they do not have to throw away their dignity by working for crumbs.
And as the saying goes, if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys.
Maybe the golden age of exposed corruption? We’ve been finding out a lot about how basically every facet of life in industry is compromised due to financial influence or lack of regulation and care.
Golden Age of tech-AI?
@ragingloli Have fun with that, it was a thing here about 5–10 years ago. Ha!
It’s the golden age of smartphones and the changes it inflicted on the human brain.
Society peaked in 2019. That’s what this time will be known for.
@Blackwater_Park I really liked 2017. More memorable to me than 2019 was. Full of trends (that weren’t harmful or terrible like tiktok has influenced nowadays) and fun, the internet wasn’t horrible and content was aimed around feel good vibes (YouTube was peak). I feel like pretty much everything was great and significantly better than it is now aside from the media in terms of politics. Which would still be worse now, but was off the wall then too because of Trump just getting elected.
Currently, the Golden Age of pre-Civil War.
I’m going back to the golden age of television. There are so many fantastic streaming and network TV shows out now that I can’t keep up.
@Caravanfan – which network shows are good? I’ll admit I don’t pay whole lot of attention, because every bit I do see just looks and sounds like the same old, lowest common denominator garbage. Streaming seems to have peaked a few years back, too. Maybe I
I just don’t care. I’m not refuting your statement, I’m really just looking for recommendations.

It’s definitely the golden age of scammers and parasocial relationships, though.
@Smashley Well most my favorite series are more paid for streaming services, but I think Fargo is FX network. What do you have access to?
^^ Fargo was on FX. Too bad the series is over. I loved it! Is there a place where I can see the seasons again?
@Caravanfan – Ah, Fargo was excellent. I was using the narrower definition of “network”, those being the ones that broadcast free over the airwaves. ABC, PBS, FOX, NBC, PBS, CBS and a handful of other small ones.
It’s the golden age ,of the death of true democracy.
If the Rep/cons get back in elections will be as big a farce as they are in Russia .
@smudges you’re in luck The new season of Fargo will be out this year.
@Smashley I honestly don’t pay much attention otherwise to network television. If my wife didn’t like some of the stuff on there I’d cut the cable in a hot second. Almost all the shows I like are Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Showtime, Prime, etc.
@Caravanfan Ohmigosh! I thought it was over and done with. Thank you!
