Popcorn was genetically engineered to pop.

Grain, absolutely: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puffed_grain

I’ve had corn, wheat, amaranth, millet, and rice.

@Dutchess_III It’s been around since 4700 BC. I have to think you are mistaken.

@SnipSnip she is not wrong. You just think that genetic engineering is something new.
Corn was cultivated over 1000’s of generations to take something that’s basically inedible to what we know today. Corn wouldn’t exist without human intervention and indeed can’t exist without it even today.
The fact that all this happened 6–8000 years ago doesn’t mean it wasn’t engineered.

Cauliflower popcorn?? How is cauliflower popped??

Mustard seeds pop spectacularly in a frying pan coated in hot oil. Be prepared to wipe up a mess.

@RocketGuy Was that for a showing of The Last of the Mohicans?

@kritiper Cauliflower isn’t really popped, it is simply broken up until it looks like popcorn, then buttered and roasted in the oven, with a generous helping of salt and perhaps other flavoring, as desired.

Well the Aztecs introduced corn to their southern neighbors @RocketGuy.

@YARNLADY Sorry you didn’t catch a note of sarcasm in my post…
