Can watching ASMR mukbang help with food cravings?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24986points) June 23rd, 2023

I find it as interesting as the psychological condition of “Phantom Limb Syndrome”.

I watched a video where an amputee has an itch where his foot used to be. A boy scratches his other foot in a mirror, and it works.

Can one do the same with food cravings?

Im not sure if watching YouTube videos on eating ASMR mukbang to help my nighttime cravings, or is just teasing me?

It might be working because I have never ordered out after watching these food videos.

I see it as just “teasing”; however, it sounds like it might be different for you!!! For me it makes me almost sick even thinking of it, so it might be a deterrent for wanting to eat.

It should be banned altogether. It impacts health, promotes unhealthy eating habits, food waste, and live animal cruelty and torture. Mukbang has also been credited as a dietary restriction device for curbing food cravings and excessive watching may be correlated with the exacerbation or relapse of eating disorders in those who have them. The animal abuse is what cinched it for me. But youtube and facebook and insta-whatever have a loophole which prevents them from banning the videos because it is “done in preparation of food”. It’s pretty horrific for the marine life.

Are there videos of people barfing? That might work for you! 8)

@smudges There was a television show called “You can’t do that on television”, where they have clips from barffies burger joint. Where they show plenty of sick stuff.
