I’m sure they do. Or would if the conditions were right.
My friend’s pet female cockatiel and budgerigars (parakeets) lay eyes.
@gondwanalon What do they do with the eggs? Do your friends eat them?
HA! Funny. They raise the baby birds to give away and sell some of them.
Yes they can. My female conure without a mate had eggs I had to throw away. Since I had a mating pair of budgies, they had babies.
I gave them away but it was interesting.
My mom and stepdad used to raise finches. Put male and female together, and things happen.
I’ve never had a pet bird, so I can’t answer that Q with total assurance; however, growing up on a farm, I do know that chickens (they are birds) lay at least 1 egg every day. The only catch is that you need a rooster to fertilize the eggs in order to hatch a baby chick. So, following that logic, I’m going to guess that YES they can lay eggs but I don’t think that they lay them daily & you’d need a male in order to hatch babies…can’t even guess how many eggs it would take to make a breakfast!!!
