What are the best and worst school lunch menus, and items, in your school?
Either free or paid for?
In grade school they sold really good hot dogs and buns for $0.25 each.
In high school the cafeteria had delicious mini pizzas for $0.75 each and went up to $3.00 each in grade 12.

When I was in school the food I liked best was the tator tots, hot dogs, pizza, and tacos. The pizza was terrible, and I knew it even as a very young girl, but I still was happy to have it.
My school served chili with frozen ice pops for dessert. The chili always came with a thick layer of grease, so I’d open my ice pop first, and dip it repeatedly into the chili, removing the congealed grease each time until the chili was edible. it cooled it down nicely too. Once the grease was removed, the chili was actually pretty good!
I went to a private Catholic grade school that had Women and Mother’s in the kitchen. They were all the most amazing lunches. My favorite was Turkey a la King.
The worst was hot tuna casserole on Friday’s.
In third grade at a parochial school, I was told I must eat the stewed prune dessert. I ate them all, and then vomited within about three minutes. I was excused from prune dessert the rest of the year.
The best elementary school lunch was tacos!
Enchiladas in Jr Hi in Los Angeles(1950s) the best and they had fresh popped popcorn (I think the bag was 5 cents)
I don’t remember the bad food. I remember some things that were not bad. One private school I went to had chicken a la king, which I know is not something people make now but I remember it was ok. In my high school, they had a good chocolate cake with white icing. Other than those two things, notthing was particularly memorable.
My school served SOS that was to die for. I snarfed it. I mostly picked around the other food.
Well I know how it’s made. There was something slightly different with the school SOS than what you make in.your kitchen.
