Do they have school law enforcement officers who are themselves students?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24986points) July 7th, 2023

Instead of hiring a full time LEO.

Is it a good or bad idea?

My university had RA’s resident assistants. They answered to the resident life dean.

Do they have something similar for grade school?

So, are you asking if minors- children- can be law enforcement officers?

I certainly hope not! Children are, by definition immature.

@snowberry Not armed, but like the “Fillmore” cartoon. Slightly more of an expansion of a hall monitor, or a “Harry Potter”, prefect.

Breaking up fights and de-escalation of problems. Giving help to students where possible.

We had the Safety Patrol when I was in school which was mainly about wearing a badge and monitoring behavior on the busses. I was in it one year but what a little pipsqueak as I was could do, I don’t know. I doubt they have them now – too many lawsuits.

@janbb In Grade 6 we had the student crossing guards. One of the honor students was covered in eggs and whipping cream from Frosh week

Yeah, on Jump Street.

Here you MUST be 18 to become a LEO. They used to use “over 18 look 12” undercover agents for drug busts. If I remember correct, that created a shit storm for the powers that be, so they outlawed that!!!
