Does a part of your mind actually enjoy the sound of leaf blowers?

Asked by Kraigmo (9223points) July 7th, 2023

I realize that 90% of people do not find leaf blowers to be a pleasant noise. Some may find it tolerable. Some may find it intolerable.
But very few people actually enjoy the noise.
I’d like to hear from someone who enjoys the noise.
Why do you enjoy that sound?
I’m guessing that the reason is that the sound is accompanied by power. And some people relish any power they can have for a moment. But that’s just a guess. Give me your real reasons.

I enjoy the sound! But only when I’m walking past them. For me it’s because leaf blowers usually only come out in a few contexts. One being Autumn, one of my favourite seasons. And the other being after freshly mown grass, one of my favourite smells!

If it’s a long distance away it’s okay. It bothers me on a Saturday morning at 8:00 when the neighbors have it done.

Yes of course. I also love the smell of gasoline. I’m probably just odd.

When I hear a leaf blower I know that stupid people are blowing away the grass they just mowed and I wonder what the hell?! It’s the outdoors! Who gives a flying fuck if there’s a little grass on pavement?! It also makes me angry because I know that they’re also blowing little tornados of dirt around, which settles on my car, and again….it’s the outdoors! Who gives a flying fuck if there’s some dirt or dust on the pavement?!

In other words, I hate them. And your tags are kinda stupid. not sayin’ that you are!

No, not at all. It’s one of the most annoying, intrusive noises around. I’d much rather hear the sound of raking.

No. And lawn mowers also are annoying. But they appear to be a necessary part of summer, so there isn’t much I can do.

The sound that I really do like is when the tree trimmers come and cut down branches and then feed the branches into the tree grinder/wood chipper. Not the wimpy ones from Home Depot, but the industrial sized ones used by arborists. The ones with the low pitch grinding noise that raises to a crescendo when the tree branch is being morcelated. That’s music to my ears

Let me think about that…..NOPE not at all!

Do I alike the sound of leaf blowers? No, but I vastly prefer that to fireworks. People here like to use them year-round, but they are especially fond of setting them off in summer up through midnight.

I hate the sound UNLESS I’m the one using it!!! There’s something oddly satisfying about the drone sound when I’m the one holding it. When in front with the neighbor using it, it’s annoying as hell!!!

I just like the sound people working

Not really the literal sound of leaf blowers, but if a leaf blower is being used to blow leaves around then it must be autumn, and then I am happy.

I own a gas powered one. I love using it for what it does. So the sound means progress to me. Kind of like the sound of a lawn mower.
I however wear noise canceling headphones or ear buds when using it.
