Do you eat your fill, or ration some for later?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24986points) July 8th, 2023

To save money.

When In your history did you not go to sleep, or school/work hungry? Also the opposite? When you were the hungriest, starving?

There was a time when my children were very small that I went without so my kids could eat. I did lose weight.

I never eat my fill. That is a gross feeling. I eat til I’m comfortable then send it away.

We were taught to eat the plate empty, or else.

I clean my plate but I don’t fill it. I absolutely do not eat until I’m full – unless I am at a Asian Sushi and Hibachi Buffet. I get my money’s worth there. That happens about once or twice a year.

I’ve never had to go to bed hungry, but there were times that I had to be very careful with grocery money, and probably ate much cheaper food that wasn’t as healthy. Nowadays I ration my food because I have to be careful what I take in because of my health issues. And when I do eat out, it’s gotten so expensive that I always try and order something that I will have leftovers from.

I do not over eat. I eat fairly small portions.

Last time I went to bed hungry was earlier this spring when I did a 4 day fast. Day 2 and 4 were simply horrible.

We were expected to eat everything on our plates even the brussel sprouts and the bits of onion in the mince and I know that somewhere, my parents are still watching to make sure that I do.

Now I usually eat small portions and move on. I feel gross today from a family bbq and I did eat too much meat, so salads only for 3 days.

@Dutchess_III Yes, it hasn’t changed much over the last 50 years.
