[NSFW] Do you think the "Me Too" movement's cultural shift will be confined to high-profile and/or celebrity-driven workplaces?

Asked by luigirovatti (3001points) July 14th, 2023

I mean, would it affect the workplaces of women employed by bosses we’ve never heard of? If the question is inappropriate or already asked I’ll request deletion immediately.

I am not quite sure what your trying to say with this?

No, I think it is filtering down to smaller corporations and expect that bosses are more aware of how they should behave and how it is perceived. But probably not all. I imagine HR departments are seeing more complaints of harassment filed.

(I think for clarity you should make the verb “will” instead of “would.” Or change the “do” to “did”; it is a grammatical error.)

I think after 2017 it was noticed and reported more in regular offices due to the movement. Prior to that, women who dealt with that issue were often treated poorly, or as liars. I was put on an HRA call and still had to work with the man.

No, nor should it be.

Of course not

How would you draw the line between ‘regular people’ and celebrities?

Silly idea.

Confined by who?

Every female has a Me Too story.

I still don’t understand this question

janbb's avatar

@Dutchess_III I believe he’s asking if the high profile cases of sexual harassment have had an effect on ordinary work place harassment issues.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Thank you @Dutchess_III because I can’t figure out out is being asked, and is that what is being asked @janbb ??

janbb's avatar

@SQUEEKY2 I’m not the OP. I said above what I thought it meant but it would be best to ask them what they meant.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

@janbb my very first response I sorta did and never got an answer.

@SQUEEKY2 I know. They haven’t come back to the thread to clarify.

@everyone: I should’ve asked HOW MUCH the Me Too movement affected the workplaces of less-known women compared to how much it affected the celebrities, especially in terms of awareness?

Sorry for taking this long, I didn’t know quite know how to answer, because I didn’t know if the cases where the women which are part of the Me Too movement might be considered when they’re not celebrities to begin with. Imho, I heard about famous cases that got me interested in Me Too movement, like Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp, or against Harvey Weinstein, but not about less famous ones. The vast majority of people have a daily life to attend to, and honestly don’t participate actively in this type of movement.

In short, what I said will probably be offensive to many, and I had to decide whether to say these things at the cost of being criticized for having controversial opinions.
