Do you plan to boycott X on Tuesday, August 1, 2023?
There is a movement being put forth on Twitter aka X to NOT send any Tweets tomorrow, Tuesday, August 1, 2023. The idea is to hit Musk in the wallet as in no Tweets, no revenue in protest to the things that he’s been doing with the platform. I send very few Tweets anyway, so I doubt that my participation would have any affect on his wallet. Still, I probably won’t sign on tomorrow. Will you be participating on X tomorrow?

I deleted my twitter account months ago, shortly after the muskrat usurped the throne.
I have a Twitter account that I use maybe twice a year for ten minutes. I’m not deleting or boycotting. I barely pay attention to the Twitter saga.
@ragingloli Guess that means you won’t be tweeting tomorrow then!!! I NEVER liked the old Twitter. I originally set up the account because a lot of friends insisted that it was necessary & I didn’t close it because I found it convenient to contact those friends. I’ve been hesitant to close it now because I’m waiting to see who is going to become the New Twitter.
@JLeslie I use mine maybe once a year but I just keep receiving messages from very passionate friends. The way I look at it is HOW do I know what my opinion is if I’m not willing to do a little research???
I can’t stand the platform but I highly recommend putting your personal usage/dollars to match your political standing. It’s very powerful, especially right now.
I have never tweeted in the past, and never will. I have been boycotting Twitter since its beginning.
Like @ragingloli, I quit soon after EM began allowing hate to thrive.
Twitter was handy when we were stuck in Travis following the Covid cruise. I was able to largely display the horrible food we were getting.
Since then it’s been useless. I didn’t mind cancelling my account months back.
I started boycotting it months ago. I think the real strategy would be to boycott’s the companies that advertise on there. Given that he actively encouraging known paedophiles, antisemites and worse back to the platform I don’t think it would take much to convince major companies to stop advertising either them.
I dropped my twitter account last December. Anyone who still posts is complicit in supporting a demagogue man child.
I never had a Twitter account. So I guess that’s boycotting.
Of course not. There’s actual real problems.
Twitter is useless to me.
@Blackberry I agree that there is a hierarchy of problems. Some are worse or more important than others.
I believe that giving a safe haven to people who want literally to murder both you and me as a problem worthy of my action no matter how seemingly small. That’s why I quit the platform. My inability to fully rectify a situation does not mean that I can do nothing. I can deny them my participation in my own degradation and possible erasure.
I don’t tweet much, but mainly respond to people’s posts, although maybe that’s the same thing? But I’m game.
I am boycotting that site since always. Its full of toxic people since Tumblr crashing years back. But honestly I dont want Twitter gone, after Tumblr lost popularity a lot of toxic people went to Reddit, making it a bit worse than it was. So better to contain them in one spot
@Hawaii_Jake
Oh I agree. I apologize as I should have clarified that I deleted my twitter already when I saw Elon was yet another unhinged rich person about a year ago.
So my answer would actually be a “yes” since I’ve already boycotted Twitter lol.
I have never had a Twitter account and I won’t be getting one. I thought it was impossible to pick a worse name than Twitter but Musk seems to have pulled it off.
I still have a twitter account but never post on it anymore. I probably glance at it once every few days.
I didn’t know about it, but sure. No Tweets.
I’m boycotting today just to see what happens.
What is wrong with people? Why should you care if a website that belongs to someone else has a name change? Seriously. I am not a Twitter user, but I would not care one bit if the owners of this site decided to change the name…..however, I do think it’s cute the way it is.
If you don’t like the new Twitter, don’t go there. It isn’t incumbent upon you to try to get others to do the same. Do you own thing.
The new owner is letting hate spread across his platform. That’s the real reason for the boycott. The change to X was just the final straw.
@SnipSnip If we all did nothing about anything, nothing would ever change. There’s not a thing wrong with people. Some just care more than others.
Twitter was toxic before Musk, now it’s just freely toxic. That’s what you get when you let anyone say anything on your platform. A cesspool
@Blackwater_Park But not anyone can say anything. Musk has made it clear he will not tolerate criticism from anyone he perceives as liberal.
And now he is ranting to be wary of white genocide.
