Should I go downtown?

Asked by elbanditoroso (33577points) July 31st, 2023

The Fulton County courthouse is a block or two from the Five Points (downtown Atlanta) MARTA station.

Sometime in the next couple days, Fani Willis is going to (probably) announce indictments against Donnie “the fraud” Trump and some of his henchmen.

Should I go downtown that day, and celebrate the indictments?

Should be on CNN and others.

Only if you wave to the camera so we can see you. Honestly, I’d go. Pretty historic.

I’ve become a firm believer that it’s better to be safe than sorry!!! I don’t think anything horrible is going to happen. Still, they have put up barricades & that makes me wonder what threats they’ve had. Personally, I’d keep my ass at home…just in case. I can celebrate without being up close & personal…maybe even enjoy my celebration better!!! If you end up on the 6 o’clock news, who knows what type of harassment you might face.

You could always wear a Trump shirt under your clothes, or talk your way out if it went south. God knows every aspect has been discussed here ad nauseum. :) I’d go with you if I were close.

I wouldn’t go.

@Jeruba I have loved that song since I was a little girl.

@Jeruba kind of beat me to it, but I was going to say that you should, because the lights are much brighter there and you can forget all your worries, forget all your cares.

I’d go.

(My first thought was to copy/paste Petula Clark lyrics, too.)

Good thing I checked first to be sure this was in Social.

@elbanditoroso, truthfully, I don’t go to much of any large outdoor gatherings for any reason. There’s just too many negatives for me, including physical pain. But I might make an exception if it were a chance to see Trump going into a courthouse on charges—or coming out. Maybe wait for that.

@KNOWITALL, your remark about the shirts inspires another Q.

You could always wear a Trump shirt under your clothes, or talk your way out if it went south They were NOT open to talking on Jan 6. I most certainly would NOT take the chance. I have NO desire to see him up close & personal…I might throw up on his well polished shoes!!!

He held a rally about 50–60 miles from my house & I didn’t go to that one either. I know what he looks like & I don’t trust his followers to not get crazy at the drop of a hat, so I kept my ass at home!!! That was the day the crowd turned on Lindsey Graham who is a supporter of 45 & he had to leave the area.

Just announced, Tuesday 5:30 pm EST. Trump charged with 4 counts in 2020 election case.

elbanditoroso's avatar

@jca2 that’s a federal indictment. The Georgia one hasn’t yet been released.
