Can we shed a tear or two for Robbie Robertson, dead at 80? What a great Band they were!

One of my favorite bands, and that song (night they drove old Dixie down) was one my favorites from that era. youtube
Well, this Q just sent me down a YouTube rabbit hole…
He was absolutely one of the greats. He will be missed.
Do me a favor, son, won’t you stay and keep Anna Lee company?
Tine to take a load off Fanny.
The “Lifetime Achievement Award” was given to him by the National Academy of Songwriters. Quite an honor. He also scored the fairly recent 2019 movie The Irishman.
Thanks @filmfann. I played that 3 times and sang along with it.
This song is driving me nuts. I cannot come up with “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” in my head because all that comes to me is “The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia”! Seriously, can you switch back and forth from one to the other?
I’ve got The Band playing now. I didn’t know that they wrote and sang “Atlantic City.” I thought it was a Bruce original. I used to think “Jersey Girl” was too until I found out it was written by Tom Waits.
@janbb Got the links above and listened. The problem is even after I’ve listened to it, I can’t go from one back to the other, plus when I try to think of (sing) the Old Dixie Down song, it won’t come to me. I only get the Georgia song. :D
It’s like I can’t picture both Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio…just one or the other at a time.
<sigh> I’m just a knucklehead…
