(NSFW) Has the indecent police gone too far or do you think this is just something that an AI goofed up on?

Asked by Pandora (32436points) August 13th, 2023

I was going through FB and saw a that included pictures of different breeds of dogs over the last 100 years. Well, I started to notice they blurred out all the penises on male dogs.

I’m hoping it’s just an AI thing because I fear the next step is to cover your dogs when they are out in public. I mean, if you see animals naked in real life, why blur it on the internet?

@Pandora That was weird. But it isn’t new. I remember back in the 1980’s there was a push on the by Mormons to ban Donald Duck cartoons because he wasn’t wearing pants. So making your animals wear pants may not be far off. Especially if some weirdo starts making a wild claim about how we have to worry about triggering them with our naked animals.

Very similar to the actions of Muslim extremists. They will not allow faces (and other human features) in islamic art, on the theory that:

he Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stated that whose who make images – by drawing or engraving – will be punished on the Day of Resurrection, and these haraam images are images io animate beings, such as humans, animals and birds, based on the fact that in the hadeeth it says that they will be told: “Bring to life that which you have created.”

Come to think of it, ultra-Orthodox Jews do the same thing -

You shall have no other gods beside Me. You shall not make for yourself a sculptured image, or any likeness of what is in the heavens above or on the earth below, or in the waters under the earth. (Exodus 20:3–4)

My two cents: religion is hyperactive.

They blurred a dog’s junk back in the 70’s on a David Bowie album cover. This is not new. You have individuals who take offense and push their insecurities on the rest of us by censoring.

I think the dogs prefer it that way as many breeds are shy about such things.

The indecent police have gone too far. That’s ridiculous beyond words. What’s next…little shields to hold around your dog when it relieves itself?

shoot! I probably shouldn’t have even suggested that!

I don’t think anyone gets to complain about this unless they want to spend their afternoons training AI to recognize human penises vs. not human penises, and this would include human penises that may be altered to attempt to fool the AI (e.g. human penises painted with red paint and such). Can you imagine the fun team anus gets to have?

This reminds me of an action taking place during one of the televised dog shows that are on TV now and then.

The focus was on one dog that was doing its performance, that’s fine. But in the background, far right of the screen, one other dog was humping a different one. It took the director/producer of the telecast a moment to figure out what was going on, and then they rapidly changed to a different camera angle.

@gorillapaws Meanwhile ads for ED showing a not-so-blurred male penis are easily shown on my screen and enlarged focus. Apparently, that’s not offensive if it’s an ad. Though I’m sure the anus team has a lot of butt jokes. Oh, he’s an a-s hole and another as-s hole. But I get it. Its like when you have to recognize how many buses or motorcycles are on a security sign in to show you aren’t a robot. If AI apparently has a hard time finding those, I suppose they have a harder time finding human penis. LOL
