Have you done everything you wanted to do this summer?

Asked by jca2 (16892points) August 15th, 2023

However you like to spend your summers, whatever you try to do every summer or planned to do this summer, have you done it?

For the record, I detest when August comes and people start talking about how summer is almost over, and I hate to think that way, but on TV, people are saying it. In some states, kids are back to school already. In my state, kids don’t return to school until after Labor Day so there are still a few weeks of vacation left.

Have you done everything you intended to do this summer?

We didn’t make any list or specific plans, but every summer I try to go on at least one trip. I also like to try to go to the beach at least once. We just came back from Alaska (great and I advise you all should try to check it out if you ever have a chance) but we haven’t been to the beach yet, or gone swimming. I did go to the beach in Florida in February, with clothes on, just to hang out.

I didn’t have any real set goals, so I guess I have reached them :-)

I never have enough summer but lately it is so crowded and trafficky around here from tourists that I don’t mind that the end is in sight.

Yes, it’s been a great summer!!

Same as @janbb. Way too many tourists still, I’ll wait until fall to do my river floats. Minus all the drunks and litter. :)

No. I need to buy a house (again) and haven’t accomplished it yet. We did have a sales contract but the roof inspection was horrible. Light literally coming through the roof! Shingles put on poorly. I won’t bore you with the whole story.

It was very hot early this year, so haven’t done much at home.

I would love to go on a vacation.

Did not make it to the dog park yet. Also, our anniversary got bolloxed as we both got sick. Otherwise, it’s been fine, considering I generally dislike summer.

So far so good. Still have 4 canoe races in Kona, Hawaii. And also get my Hobie Cat sailboat boat out of the garage. Got sail it at least a couple times before winter sets in.

@gondwanalon I visited Kona when I was 13 (around 1980) and I remember it being so beautiful, not crowded, warm breezes, incredibly gorgeous. Is it still that way?

Almost. We had to cancel a trip which was mildly disappointing. He was more excited about it than I.

For the most part. We’ve had to keep our camping trips closer to home since I started a new job and don’t have enough accrued time off to leave early on a Friday for longer distances. We’re trying to visit all the state parks in Wisconsin and we’ve seen most that are within an hour or two, but there are many others that are anywhere from 3–5 hours away and we just don’t have the time to do it right now.

I’ve done the other usual stuff like swim in the lake, go to outdoor concerts, hike, visit the farmer’s market, visit the Biergarten, gone fishing, gone to baseball games and Art Fair on the Square.

I agree with you about school starting so early, though that’s not an issue for us anymore since our youngest is 19. It starts here after Labor Day, so we still have plenty of summer left. My friends in Illinois who still have children in school were posting back to school pics on August 2. That’s way too early in my opinion.
