Does anyone drink Pina Coladas any more?

Or was that a fad that died out in the 1980s?

Only when walking on the sand with a new beau. Or is it the rain?

@janbb it’s “the dunes of the Cape…”

I would say probably yes, when they are on vacation in tropical places. I still see them on menus. Sometimes they have an added twist, like an additional fruit of some sort.

I still see them on menus at tropical places, like @JLeslie said. When we go to Florida in winter, we go to a popular restaurant that’s got a tropical theme, and they have pina coladas and other drinks like that.

I haven’t seen them on a restaurant menu here; Margaritas and Sangrias (flavored) seem to be the big thing.

I would say margaritas are more popular, but also Mexican restaurants are easy to come by.

I like them. Last year I went to a destination wedding where they provided unlimited Pina Coladas. Mmmm!

I had a pina colada last month with guacamole and chips. Last week I had the perfect margarita at Applebees, no salt. Too sweet but tasty.
I’m not a big drinker so it has to taste good, and doc said beer is the worst for our bodies.

Margaritas are better IMO. Pina coladas are also calorie bombs.

The last time I was in Dubai the beach club had multiple differ t versions of pina colada. But I suspect that it’s one of those things that taste better when your sitting on a beach in 40 degree heat.

I actually love Pina Coladas but they are calorie bombs as @Blackwater_Park says and I don’t see them on menus much around here. I do associate them more with a tropical vacation but when I was newly home with my second son, my Ex and I got in a routine of having Pina Coladas at night for a few weeks. Maybe that’s why he’s always been a more mellow guy.

I haven’t had one since 2014 in Hawaii, I’ve had Margaritas almost ever 5th of May

It’s either Pina colada or some foaming ice cream but never b0th at the same time!!

A couple of days ago, hubby and I were at the rooftop restaurant of a Brooklyn hotel, sitting in the hot sun and looking at gorgeous views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline. The magical setting inspired him to order a pina colada. The bartender didn’t have the necessary ingredients and couldn’t create one! It seems that they have, indeed, lost some popularity and aren’t in much demand.

Omigod, so sticky. I hated when people ordered them, what a mess to make and clean up after! But when somebody else had to deal with the mess, I loved drinking them.
Haven’t seen any in a long time, I am wildly boring, now, drinking wine.

I’m with @janbb I love them but you may as well order a lava cake if you are looking for calories. I went out to a korean place for dinner and ordered their strawberry flavored soju. Sooo, good. I think this will now be my favorite drink. Light, refreshing and still gives you a buzz. They didn’t have regular soju on the menu but everyone tells me its like a lighter version of sake and I don’t care for bitter drinks.

While searching online to see what was in favor & out of favor, I ran across several Pina Colada Pies. Haven’t made one yet, but they did look good & you’d have more control over what went in it to help tame the major sweetness of the drink. Some were baked & some were no bake.

On the rare occasion that I drink, my second choice in a Piña Colada.
