How common is it for immigrants to be in government?

I only know of two.

Elizabeth May leader of the Canadian Green party was born in the USA.

Also the Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger was born in ~ (Austria).

What are some more?

I worked in local government for 30 years, in NY, and we had people from Dominican Republic, Italy, China, India, various African countries, various Caribbean countries, Ecuador, Colombia, Poland, you name it.

@jca2 I meant elected positions for newcomers. Like Mayor, Governer, senator, ect

Here’s a few:

Madeleine Albright: She was born in Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic) and became the first female U.S. Secretary of State under President Bill Clinton.

Henry Kissinger: Born in Germany, he served as U.S. Secretary of State and National Security Advisor under Presidents Nixon and Ford.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: Born in Austria, he became the Governor of California.

Tammy Duckworth: Born in Thailand to a Thai mother and an American father, she is a U.S. Senator from Illinois.

Mazie Hirono: Born in Japan, she is a U.S. Senator from Hawaii.

Ilhan Omar: Born in Somalia, she is a U.S. Representative from Minnesota.

Ted Lieu: Born in Taiwan, he serves as a U.S. Representative from California.
