Let’s play a game. Give a single line, just one line from any movie for players to guess which film it was from.
Give clues if you wish. No waiting for turns.
I’ll start with…”Cut it out, Evil!”

Evil Ed?
“But it’s got fangs!”
“I’ll have what she’s having”
Extra points for location and the actors.
My guess is Airplane, or that one Head and Shoulders commercial.
“Was kannst du eigentlich?”
@elbanditoroso Estelle Reiner. When Harry Met Sally
“You’ve got red on you.”
“Laugh-a while you can, monkey boy!”
@Hawaii_Jake Have to admit I haven’t seen the Evil Ed film. But not the movie I have in mind. Here’s the line next to it.
“Cut it out, Evil. It’s not funny!”
@RocketGuy Buckaroo Banzai Across The Eighth Dimension! I love that movie!
“I had a great pair of hands!”
“I hid this uncomfortable piece of metal up my ass for two years.”
@smudges True Romance.
If not then, Pulp Fiction. Lol
Tarantino seems to like guys hiding wrist watches up their tuchus.
“When my people were developing philosophy your people were still swinging from trees.”
“That’s when you know you’ve found somebody really special. When you can just shut the fuck up for a minute and comfortably share silence.”
@SnipSnip My Big Fat Greek Wedding but I cheated and looked it up hehe
“Cut it out, Evil” is from Fright Night, the 1985 movie.
Here’s your quote to figure out: “I don’t want to be a white boy on Wall Street, I don’t want my whole life to be predetermined by them.”
^^Correct! Cool.
Could it be that easy? Wall Street with Sheen and Douglas.
@mazingerz88 Nope. I’ll give you a hint: You are half right. Sheen is in it.
^^Sheen’s cop movie with Clint Eastwood.
^^Now I remember. The Rookie.
Nope. One more clue. This line comes when he is writing his grandmother.
^^I’m out. No idea. Wild guess. Platooon.
“That’s when you know you’ve found somebody really special. When you can just shut the fuck up for a minute and comfortably share silence.”
No one attempted a guess, but it was from Pulp Fiction. Uma Thurman said it to John Travolta when they were having burgers at Jack Rabbit Slims. I love the quote and it’s so true.
@mazingerz88 BINGO! Platoon. Sheen was a rich kid that volunteered to go to Viet Nam and the movie had him narrating letters he sent to Grandma, explaining why he did it.
@smudges I wish I knew that line was from Pulp Fiction. What probably got mostly retained in my brain were the Biblical lines spoken by Samuel L. Jackson
in that scene where they confronted those young guys in their apartment.
@mazingerz88 Oh yeah…that was really good! God I love that movie!
“It’s a trick, get an axe”
“Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life son”
That one’s easy. Animal House. Dean Wormer talking to Flounder
“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
@Blackwater_Park I think you got it! I seem to recall a scene with that line. With Mandy Patinkin in the scene. Course I could be wrong.
“I have a head for business and a body for sin.”
^^ Sounds like Mae West, but I think it’s Melanie Griffith (whom I can’t stand). Unsure of the movie.
One last one: “Well, they’re moving at almost forty knots. At that speed, they could run right over my daughter’s stereo and not hear it.”
@seawulf575 Hunt for Red October. Great movie. Just watched it again this weekend.
Do you think he’s dead?
Well, if he’s not dead, he’s very calm
@seawulf575 no. I’ll give you a clue – it’s from a Vietnam war movie but not set it Vietnam.
Air America. Honestly, it’s not a particularly good film. It takes a particularly interesting part of the Vietnam war (a dodgy, deniable CIA outfit operating out of Laos) and really fumbles it. It also came out just at the start of the first Gulf war which may not have been the best timing.
But it’s one of the first movies I went to see in the cinema and I remember really enjoying. Also the soundtrack was great.
^^Would never have guessed that correctly. Is that movie the one with Mel Gibson and Robert Downey Jr.?
@mazingerz88 Yup. The line is from the scene at the beginning where theres a plane crash and pilot crawls from the burning wreckage before collapsing (IIRC)
“I’m really a nice guy. If I had friends you could ask them.”
( Clue ) It’s an 80s movie.
Is the big secret youve been keeping from me that youre a mermaid? Or is there something else?
“I’m not bad. I’m just drawn that way.”
^^Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
“Go down a rope in the middle of the night? If I could do that I’d be the star of my AARP meetings”
Alert The Amphibious Squadron!
And one last one, because it has always proved true in my view: “You know, Mrs. Buckman, you need a license to buy a dog, or drive a car. Hell, you need a license to catch a fish! But they’ll let any butt-reaming asshole be a father.”
^^No idea. But for some reason it sounds something like what Jack Nicholson would say.
“You make me want to be a better man.”
“You’re the beneficiary of the cruelest kind of murder… murder for profit!”
Clue : From a horror movie.
Yes, @filmfann. I loved that line and that movie.
@filmfann Just curious, was your answer of Alert the Amphibious Squadron in reference to my quote of being the star of the AARP?
@seawulf575 Nope. It’s a movie line. Spoken by Angelina Jolie.
^^Sky Captain then…and the World of Tomorrow.”
This whole town is infested with killer cockroaches. – Repeat, killer cockroaches!
^^I’d seen that movie! What is the title of that movie???
Ok…that Mira Sorvino movie directed by Del Toro?
It’s a little obscure, but has a few names that were big in 80’s tv
^^Caddyshack? Night of the Creeps!
@Blackwater_Park Thinking of cockroaches I have to wonder if it came from The Nest or even Joe’s Apartment?
Oh! Damnation Alley!
There’s a forgotten piece of… film.
One more obscure one:
“The Living Dead and the dying living are all the same. Cut from the same cloth. But disposing of dead people is a public service, whereas you’re in all sorts of trouble if you kill someone while they’re still alive.”
^^Soylent Green…or that zombie film with Dennis Hopper?
