Huh? They come in packs of 12 (or so?) at the Costcos I’ve seen.
@Zaku My CostCo muffins come in packs of 6, and they require me to buy two packs.
Every time I grab a container of muffins, the check out clerk corrects me that you have to buy two.
I understand that this is advantageous for those who don’t want 12 of the same thing, but it’s a pain, and I usually tell them to forget about my getting those.
Living alone & with my nearest Costco being 45–50 miles away, I don’t shop there!!! I don’t care what I need, I have to buy way too many for just 1 person & I just don’t have that much spare cabinet space.
To answer the OP’s question, it is because the driving thought behind Costco is buying in bulk.
If you don’t want bulk, pay a little more somewhere else.
All Costco warehouses have six packs of muffins, and you have to buy 2. I believe the price is 10 dollars, although I could be wrong. We don’t buy them because we don’t eat them. A muffin in a supermarket is probably 2 dollars and I don’t know what a muffin in a place like DD or Starbucks is. @zenvelo is correct – they’re cheaper per each, with the logic being you’re laying out 10 dollars but you’re paying less than a dollar per each.
+1–800-774–2678 Is the Costco customer service number, they can probably answer this.
Its a wholesaler. Selling in vast quantities of stuff you don’t need in bulk is literally its thing
@RedDeerGuy1 By packing them in groups of six, they’re saving on packaging. If they had to package them in smaller quantities, they’d need more packing containers.
They used to provide a 12x assortment with 4x of 3 flavors. Now they come in 6x of one flavor but you get to pick two of 4 available flavors to purchase.
