How can I replicate reading on a train?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24986points) September 7th, 2023

When I was a teenager I enjoyed reading on a light rail transit on a closed loop. We are not allowed to do that anymore. How can I replicate that? I was able to read a whole Dragonlance novel a day.

I don’t have a driver’s license; So I can’t read in a car.

I’d recommend not reading while driving anyway. What is it about the train that made it favorable to you for reading? Was it that it was in motion and you didn’t have to drive? Was it the specific motion? When I was on the train for the few times in my life, it had a very specific motion. If it the specific motion I believe you are out of luck. If it is just the movement try a bus.

@seawulf575 I find it comfortable on a train. The cushioned seat, the motion of the train, and feeling safe, as in 1992 in Edmonton Alberta Canada, the LRT train is usually empty.

It is like a carnaval ride. Also I feel safe.

I too have fond memories of reading on the commuter train for years. It was either the daily NY Times or a great book. I can recall certain titles that were read on the train with great enjoyment.
Why are you no allowed to read on a train anymore? Is that a Ron DeSantis thing? (j/k)

Try this 10 hour Train White Noise link
It’s hard to not watch it however with the beautiful country side views.

@RedDeerGuy1 We are not allowed to do that anymore.. You aren’t allowed to read on public transit? I find that hard to believe.

Ah. so you ride to the end of the line, maybe ride back or switch to another line, and ride some more.
