One persons good habits are another persons bad habits.

Botox. Every 3 months, I’m making an appointment for my new dose. Yes, it’s pure vanity, and it’s very expensive. Yes, I feel great about myself—literally happy within my own skin—for the next 3 months.
Sometimes I can’t resist buying good perfume if I see a good price on it, but I try to resist because it’s something that degrades over time (the scent degrades). I also may spend on good soap (common theme of soap and perfume is scent. I’m into scents).
I collect a few different things and I can’t resist if I find something in those categories.
If I see craft stuff on sale I will fight the urge to buy it because I already have so much.
Why is coffee a bad habit?
Sending donations to political losers. What a diabolical waste!
@Caravanfan Coffee at a barista can be expensive. Also caffeine is not good for you. Also bad for the teeth.
Ten or fifteen dollars a week for Lottery tickets.
It used to be alcohol and cigs. Now I’m not sure I have any, really. @jca2 I’m a sucker for scents too…lotions potions soaps perfume, even laundry detergents. Didn’t know that about perfumes degrading. Even if they’re in an airtight glass container? Bad news for the bottles I have.
I remember on my mother’s dresser a tiny bottle of Chanel #5. It was probably sentimental more than anything. It was there until she was gone. I thought it stunk – prolly degraded! :(
I spend too much on beading supplies, but that’s a good habit and is pretty much my only over-spending one.
I love small things (no comments about the men in my life)! I think it’s a female thing. I’ll say, Oh how cute! or that’s adorable! and I’ll have to have it, almost no matter what it is! It could be something totally useless but if it’s cute I might buy it! Travel size anything is fun! So cuuute!
@smudges Yeah, they say perfumes last an average of 3 to 5 years. The older they are, the scent changes which is why older perfumes will smell stronger and not always like they did when they were fresh. The ideal storage for them is a cool dry area. I keep them in my room but since I have a lot, they last a long time and so I just try not to buy more and when I get tired of one, and it’s old, I might throw it out.
I love Chanel #5. I don’t have it but I like it. When I was a teenager, my best friend’s boyfriend worked as a security guard for Saks and he stole a bottle and gave it to me. Someone told me that it’s old lady perfume haha.
The scent of soap will change and it will become less pronounced. They say people store their soap in the bathroom which is the worst place because of the humidity. That’s where I store mine but I have nowhere else to put it.
@jca2 My mom’s Chanel was probably 30 years old – and with a stopper, not a spray, which lets in more air. It was way overly sweet, imo, but that could have been the age. I like light clean crisp scents.
Have you heard of or tried Mrs Meyers Clean Day soaps? omg I LOVE the lemon verbena! There are hand soaps, bath soaps, cleaning products, lotions, etc.
“Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day supports sustainable practices in eco-sensitive areas throughout Asia, Africa and South America, like the Brazilian rain forests. Mrs. Meyer’s products are made with cruelty-free formulas and are Leaping Bunny certified. Smells like a garden. Cleans like the dickens.

I love Mrs. Meyers hand soap (liquid). If you find a good Walmart they may have a bunch of different scents.
I like too many scents to name, everything from evergreen/pine/cedar to light florals, and some fruity ones like apple, and eucalyptus. Don’t get me started lol.
@Caravanfan Thanks for posting, big coffee w honey fan. 2 cups every morning. :)
ohmigosh @jca2! How could I forget about candles?! I like incense, but love candles! I got a fun one for my b-day one year that was soy, and when it burned down far enough there was a ring you could pull out. Costume, of course, but it was fun. mmm sage-citrus…sounds wonderful!
@smudges If you’re ever in a place that sells Yankee Candles, check it out. Yummy! I just open the jar and inhale it lol.
@KNOWITALL Well, the honey could be a problem with the sugar, but if you don’t have a diabetic or weight problem it’s probably okay.
@Caravanfan My doc took me off cholesterol meds and said probably dropping my bp meds at my check up in November. Getting too low after 65lbs off. Blood sugar dropped 14 points on Paleo!!
He said no sugar only honey. You think two tablespoons is too much per day? I can drink it black but I don’t love it. :(
@jca2 Chanel No. 5 is, and always has been, my go-to scent. I don’t care if it’s for an “old lady;” I think the fragrance is lovely and timeless.
I’ve had my current bottle for quite a a while. I’ve noticed it changing to something heavier and sweeter, not the floral-vanilla-amber combination that’s so distinctive. I guess it’s time to visit my local Nordstrom and buy a fresh bottle.
@Love_my_doggie The bottle I had when I was a teenager was on my dresser in the sun and it broke from the sun coming in the window. I remember the oil and the ingredients in the perfume ruined the finish on the dresser. It was like a freak thing that happened. I digress. This conversation is making me want to buy another bottle.
Conversation makes me want to sniff some fresh Chanel #5!
I’ve been paying a dollar for a Keurig pod at work. It goes to a good cause so I didn’t mind, but they downgraded the machine and stopped getting filtered water, so now it’s pretty bad coffee. So I just ordered a French press for work which is what I use at home.
I also buy one stupidly expensive candle about once a year because the scent is divine.
