How will a two-state solution help the people in Gaza?

The wall to cross into Israel will be an international border won’t it? It will still be a checkpoint.
Currently, Israel provides about half of Gaza’s electricity. Will Israel still do that in a two state solution?
Why exactly will the people in Gaza be more free and more able to prosper?
What examples in the world in history can be compared to demonstrate the transformation that will happen.

Well, for one thing a foreign power won’t be able to shut off their electricity at will, to use your example.
(But I have to say, I would love to discuss issues other than Israel here right now so I will only engage very sparingly in questions about it.)
Palestinians would have a hopefully peaceful and progressive homeland same as Israelis. Hopefully.
They feel like they could actually build something for the future without the constant threat of it being annihilated. They could move freely between Gaza and the West Bank.
I think the biggest benefit though is to the people of Israel. Their nation would once again be worthy of respect and support.
@gorillapaws Gaza and the West Bank are not attached. They would still need to go through an international border to drive or take a bus.
So, in your opinion Israel has been the biggest obstacle to a two state solution? Does that include Arafat walking away from a treaty?
