Is it normal for an accountant to swear at the calculator?
When my father was in his prime he would flip out at the paper fed calculator.
It was frequent enough that I decided not to go into accounting.
Is it normal for the 90’s? In 2023 is it still normal to flip out at a math error? Or was it just him?

I don’t know about being “normal” or not, but I have. I swear at many inanimate objects, including my computer, phone, sheets, and roads. Even a sidewalk if I stub my toe! It’s just an expression of frustration, that’s all.
I also frequently call things “stupid”. How stupid is that?! ;D
Calculators don’t have feelings. People yell at those (and other inanimate objects) because they can blow off steam without hurting anyone’s feelings.
The calculator should be afraid, however, when the hammer is getting close.
Of course it is normal. People who work with numbers are exacting in their work, but they can tell when they have made a mistake.
I was the night auditor at a hotel. I would total the charges for 54 rooms, and still be able to tell if I had made an error by having one digit off because I had missed a key stroke. I would utter a loud “Aw F—-” because I then had to total them all again.
If you ever had to crunch numbers on a calculator for a living you would totally understand and agree.
That’s like asking a Post Office worker if they like Christmas. They detest it as they are worked beyond the norm.
I think it would be more normal for anyone to swear at their fat fingers.
