I’ve always thought the French Horn sounded hopeful and inspiring.

Trombones elicit humor and are funny to me.

Tubas remind me of elephants.

A single violin can be mournful while a bunch of them sound majestic.

Oboes are often used for sad or melancholy music. To a degree, so are cellos.

Flutes and piccolos are often used for light-hearted, lilting melodies.

String bass/double bass is often used – particularly the lower strings – for sounds of foreboding and fear.

Aren’t all musical instruments capable of conveying the full range of human emotions? Regarding style, fast music is usually for a happy excited mood and slow music is for more thoughtful or low-spirited moods. High pitch is for a cheery mood and low pitch for sombre moods.
