Why don't the Democrats use personal attack ads against Trump?

Asked by LostInParadise (32215points) January 14th, 2024

I don’t ordinarily care for such ads, but there is so much material. It is not advisable to mention his impeachments or crimes he has not yet been convicted of. What they can mention is his numerous business failures, refusal to pay contrators, loan defaults and the Stormy Daniels mess.

I remember when Nixon ran for president there was a line that asked if you would buy a used car from this man. Maybe for Trump it could be, would you lend money to this guy?

1) Democrats are classier and more polite than republicans. It’s in republican ethos to be cutthroat and hateful; it has to be with their grudge / victim outlook on politics.

2) No, I wouldn’t give Trump a nickel to buy a stick of gum, much less loaning him money.

Well…they don’t have to. This go-around regular, good people are blasting trump much more aggressively, pre-election, than we did in 2016 when we didn’t say much, thinking there was no way in hell he could win. Oh God.
In other words, the world is doing it for them. They have the luxury of staying out of the gutter.

Everyone can already see how he is. The issue is people actually liking what they see and figuring out a way to help them deal with their mental illness.

“Democrats are classier and more polite than republicans” LOL, no. Just look at the behavior of Democrats right here on this site when it comes to Republicans. I’m no Trump supporter, but there has been attack after attack after attack on Trump. There is so much of this that it actually helps the man because it gives the left the appearance of being afraid of him.

It is a good question. Biden and the Dems have no platform to run on other than “Not Trump”. Most Americans are dissatisfied by Biden’s performance as POTUS. Him coming out and telling the country everything is great and he’s done a great job just doesn’t fly when the average American is struggling and while he gets us embroiled in more and more wars around the globe and while our cities are being flooded by illegal drugs and illegal immigrants that have been pouring across the southern border of the country…the same border Biden has fought to keep porous and even invited illegals to come. He has been a train wreck. The average American can recognize that things were much better under Trump and they are starting to wake up, more and more, to the fact that a lot of the negatives the Dems have used in the past were just lies and lies that the MSM parroted over and over.

So with no platform to run on, with a history of driving the country in, what many Americans feel is, the wrong direction, all you can do is what you always do which is go negative. Create more lies about Trump. It worked before. True it seems to be losing its efficacy, but hey, when that’s all you got…

Personal attacks on trump do not work with deplorable American voters.

Dutchess_III's avatar

A whole basketfull.

seawulf575's avatar

@mazingerz88 Nope. Neither does calling them deplorables or racists or misogynists or any of the other names the left relies on. Americans are getting tired of that. They are seeing through the game. “Get Trump” is in that same basket of things Americans are tired of. So many Americans are waking up and looking at things for what they are. And that is bad for Democrats. But I believe Democrats have dug themselves into a hole and don’t really know how to get out of it.

I really believe that is why Biden will not run for re-election and why the Dems will try popping Michelle Obama into the race. She’d be the next shiny thing their followers could cling to. It will not matter that she would have any real policies and has zero experience The radical left would slobber all over her as someone that is Not Trump (there’s that Hate Trump thing again) and not falling into dotage like Biden.

^^The Dems are not as shallow as Republicans ( not all just those deplorable trump fans ) who would simply drop somebody like Michelle in the arena just because she was likeable yet may not be really qualified for the job.

Dems are not that angry, desperate and lost.

seawulf575's avatar

@mazingerz88 Of course they are. Right now they have a guy that has shown incompetence in office as their leading candidate. Even the Dems don’t want him to run. But who else do they really have? Kamala? She is less liked than Biden. Newsom? He is just as unlikable and with a record of failure as Biden. So they will throw in someone with celeb appeal. Michelle Obama would fit that as you all slobber all over her. We will see what happens.

Her husband said Michelle is too smart to run for president! Never happen.
But yeah. She’s my hero.

“The Dems are not as shallow as Republicans.” LOL, yes, they are. Sometimes more so.
“Dems are not that angry, desperate, and lost.” Yes, they are.

For f*** sake, what business does Michelle have running for president?

Let’s be completely honest, there are no good candidates in this race, none.

The Dem strategy seems to be: let Trump say as many stupid things as he can.

Trump and his lawyer Habba are hanging him out to dry in the E.Jean Carrol case !

They are just throwing gutter balls left and right, but MAGA seems to be eating up his victim show.
