Appearance? point? type of ink, color? maker?

It needs to be comfortable to my hand. Some pens are so thin they are hard to use. Same with the ink. If it’s liquid ink, I’d prefer it not drain out onto something if it’s left uncapped. Ick! I’ve seen some pens with points that are so thin I need to strain my eyes to see what’s written. No thanks.
I prefer $0.06 Bic pens, but will use any.
I use fun pens. They must be colorful, maybe they have charms or fun tops. They really break up the monotony of office work. I’m kinda known for it.
I use Bic pens too and carry one in the side pocket of my rucksack. I use a fountain pen for writing and addressing Christmas cards.
I stopped carrying an ink pen.
I break everything.
I love a good clicky pen.
Something with a satisfying slow click.
Black. Little finger/thumb attachment.
Nice. Even ink distribution.
If it can work on all surfaces, like skin, that helps.
I use my left arm, for notes, when I’m working.
I prefer gel pens and I prefer purple ink and the pen itself to be purple.
I prefer regular ink, I don’t like the gel ink. I want a medium point, I’m not a fan of a fine point. Bic is better than PaperMate for the inexpensive pens.
I don’t like very thick pens, too hard to hold.
Blue or Black ink is fine. Red ink for correcting, but I’m rarely correcting anything.
Yes, I carry a pen with me, always.
Not a fan of ballpoints, I prefer gel-types, except sometimes they smear.
Black ink exclusively.
I’m picky about the barrel of the pen. Too narrow or too wide doesn’t work. Needs to be just right.
Yes.
I usually carry a Pilot Razor Point. A fine felt tip. It affects the kinds of lines one can make. I have other felt tips with different sizes (q.v. Micron brand) and colors.
I used to like really fine point pens, particularly ballpoint type and black ink, although that’s more because at the job I worked a number of years ago, we had to write up everything with black ink. Now I no longer work at that job and as my handwriting deteriorates a bit and as my eyesight is not as good, I find that I like a good gel point pen and I don’t write as small as I used to.
I used to hold and write with a pen, and decide if there was a book hiding in the pen.
I’ve about forgotten how to write!
I’m fussier about pencils, actually…must be 0.5mm lead. Like pens, it has to feel good in my hand. Pens – ballpoint, and I’m particular about how smoothly it writes/the ink flows. I prefer blue ink with a fine nib.
Have you noticed that pens write differently on various types of paper? I’ll borrow someone’s pen, love it, buy one, and then it doesn’t perform as well as it did when I borrowed one.
Remember those pens where you could select which color you wanted to use? Fancy-schmancy! :D
No particular brand because the majority of pens I have at home are pens I got from my previous job, where every agency and affiliate would give out pens. I have some I prefer, ones with a rubber grip, and ones that roll nicely. I also like a fine point Sharpie, which always write well.
I use a paper calendar for my appointments and I use a fine point red Sharpie for putting down appointments.
Pens, Pens, Pens, Pens
I have loved them since being fascinated with my grandfathers ink dip pens.
I own hundreds of pens. Most are because of the feel of it in my hand, the beauty of what it looks like and most importantly how it writes.
For work the ink is black.
For correspondence it is typically blue.
I own pens from my grandfather and father that mean a lot to me.
I can get lost in a pen store for hours.
My desk currently
I almost exclusively use Pentel EnerGel 0.7mm pens. Blue for writing and red for marking up student work. I bought a few cases of them almost ten years ago.
I always have a red one behind my ear (a habit I picked up as a junior draftsman many years ago).
Problem is I use pens so infrequently now, that I mostly use to point at the projection screen in class.
@Dutchess_III it sounds crazy, but I know what you mean! I do occasionally have to jot down a memo at work, but what’s really insane is when I have to write a check, which is not very often. And it’s like writing in cursive has become harder than it used to be because that’s the only time I do!
Yes, because I’m a lefty and tend to smear. I go for super fine.
