Do artist promote their music before it comes out?

Asked by honeybun35 (1031points) March 8th, 2024

Waiting on new music from a group who single came out today. Unable to find their single. When you go to their social media they have not updated anything. Am I missing something?

Most musical artists have to be big time self promoters.

Back in the day, that was literally selling tapes in local gas stations, and on street corners.

Today. They just have to put it on YouTube.

Perhaps of you can’t find anything on the band’s social media, you could find out what label promotes them.
They’re the ones who are supposed to be in charge of when new stuff can come out.

Caravan doesn’t do a lot of promoting, but that’s probably why you’ve never heard of them.

Wouldn’t the artist advertise on their page if they did two weeks ago? Especially day it comes out

it s from artist to artist. There is no standard for this.

If you can’t find it, maybe there really is no new single.

Yes.

“Pre-release” promotion strategies have been around for over 50 years – and not only for music but films and print media too.

But with the growth of streaming, sampling, podcasts, and file sharing there are now over 130 different music platforms available worldwide. And that means that your group could have cut a deal with a service not connected to mainstream media, or even to their own fan pages.
