Do you have any plans for watching the eclipse on Monday?

News says hotels and lodging along the path of totality (TX to ME) are close to fully booked. They have anchor peoplel/newscasters staying along the path to report on Monday.

I got glasses for free at the local library. The glasses are from some official source so I am sure they’re fine. If you buy glasses somewhere like Amazon, make sure they’re really safe and just not knockoffs. I’ll be on my deck Monday afternoon, watching.

I remember the last eclipse in 2017, I was at work and everyone in the building went outside to look at the sun. It got dark for a few minutes. It was a really cool time, although brief. I worked in a city in NY and all of the buildings were emptied out and everyone was on the street, looking.

I’ll be in my front yard with my kiddo, special little glasses perched atop my schnozz, saying “Oooh” and “Ahhhh”.

I am flying from San Francisco to NY on Monday. I will have my eclipse glasses with me, and I have a window seat.

I hope to see it from my yard with my eclipse glasses. I hope the weather cooperates.

I’m driving 10 hours to Dallas (actually Mesquite) with my uncle and gf. For some reason, a gas station near me had glasses for sale, so I bought those. We may hit a Mesquite city park’s viewing event or a shopping complex’s event in Terrell east of Dallas, but even if we just step outside the hotel, we’ll be in the zone of totality. There’s a good chance of clouds unfortunately.

On the way, we are hitting Palo Duro Canyon State Park south of Amarillo. I’ve been through Amarillo probably 50 times in my lifetime and never knew the second largest canyon in the US is there. While in Dallas, we’ll hit the botanical garden and arboretum, and then on the way back (further south of Amarillo) we’ll visit Caprock Canyons State Park, which has a buffalo herd originally preserved by sympathetic homesteaders.

I took the day off as my area will be 97% obscurity, so I’ll probably be out front with my neighbors. I don’t trust the glasses at all though, so I wont be staring up the whole time.
If anyones coming through on I44 feel free to DM and we can watch together.

We just had an earthquake here in the southeastern part of NY (about an hour N of the city). Very eerie. It felt like a train was coming through. Everyone in local FB groups is posting about it.

It’s supposed to be cloudy all day here. Not much to see in my area anyway. I’ve seen so many of them but still find them interesting but I don’t know why.

@gondwanalon I find the superstition of native tribes and folklore very interesting. Natives are saying they’ll all be indoors and not watching. Intriguing.

I’m about 4.5 hours from it all the way between Arkansas to Ohio. I will plan my trip the night before depending on the weather and traffic.

Will build a Camera Obscur using a large cardboard carton.

It is going to be a zoo at my house! NASA just adjusted the path of totality 150 meters closer to my house! I am slightly north of the center line! I hope the weather holds.

We are going to have a giant cookout to feed everyone.
72 hours from now! Can’t wait!

My friend from Washington state flew in last night. The onslaught begins.
Tomorrow, folks from Arizona and North Carolina arrive.
Whoo hoo! :-)

I’m going to be performing an ancient snake ritual while NASA sets off rockets on Wallops Island in project APEP. If all goes well, the New World Order will begin and everyone will have to have keep gay frogs as pets.

@LuckyGuy Weather is looking really good for you.

No special plans as I will be at work. Work provided us with eclipse glasses, which was nice. I will go outside at some point and watch assuming I’m not dealing with work things. I am wondering if i need to leave early for work tomorrow. Nothing begins to happen here until around 2:00 PM, so I think I will be okay with my regular 7:45 AM departure time.
