What was the action, and what was the outcome?
Was it worth the bother?

All the time. I get various postcards and email from different companies that I have done business with in the past, and 95% of the time I sign up for the suit. Normally you have to swear that you bought something or did something in some interval of years to be a part of it.
Recently (like a couple months ago) there was something from Equifax where they had been hacked and they had to pay ‘restitution’ to those who were victims. They sent a check for $25 or so,
I don’t go seeking these out, but if I am informed of it, I’ll sign up. I think the smallest I have ever collected was $5, but one of them – a couple of years ago – I got a check for $125.00 for something from several years prior.
There’s really no downside to it.
Over 20 years ago, I lived in a building that burned in a fire, 10 days before Christmas. I have mentioned it here in the past a few times. The fire was caused by a tenant, unintentionally, but her family had a half a million dollalr insurance policy for her. The owner was also negligent in some ways that made it difficult for the FD to fight the fire, and enabled the fire to spread. There was also a water company that didn’t provide a lot of water to fight the fire, and so they were added into the mix. The suit was successful. There were about 150 households (apartments) in the building. I don’t remember how many joined the suit. I’m not saying the total payout was the amount of the insurance policy. I don’t remember what the total payout was. I remember approximately what I got (what each household got).
