I heard on the radio of one pre-school class in Texas who were prepped and taken out the see it. Not sure about any others.
On TV I saw teachers outside with their kids in Texas, I assume many children were taken outside to experience the eclipse.
Here in N GA most of the kids had made it home, so they didn’t get the school experience but may have seen it from home. We had such a heavy cloud cover that I don’t think that there was much to see. I also think that many schools in the area didn’t want the liability of any kid being blinded & they chose to do remote learning today so any possible damage was on the parents.
Here, some schools were closed, some were doing early dismissal and some were doing a regular school day. Our district did a regular school day for the middle and high school. Not sure about the elementary school, where the kids would have been getting off the bus right around peak eclipse time, 3:30. My daughter is in HS and got home around 2:30. She said some kids stayed home. She told me if kids stayed home it was “an approved absence” but I didn’t hear that from anybody else.
At my sister’s school the students were given glasses and allowed to go home to enjoy it with their families.
Schools and many businesses were closed to allow people to watch the event.
