Why, when I called AAA Member Services did I instead get something about a free medical alert device and Medicare programs?

I need to contact AAA to renew my membership. I googled the number and looked at the site, and dialed the number on the site. It was the actual, legit AAA site. When I called it, I heard voice prompts about Medicare plans, and a free offer for a medical alert device. When an actual person came on the line, she asked if I could hear her ok and I said yes, and I said I wanted to talk to D____, about renewing my membership. She went into a spiel about a free medical alert device just for calling today. I hung up because it’s apparently something else.
Can you please explain to me, if you know, what it was?
This is the page from the site, and I called the member services number:

Any time you are asked via phone “can you hear me” it’s best not to say yes. Say I hear you. This could be a scam; the site you visited could have been a fake site. I don’t know. Perhaps AAA is so revenue deficient they are exposing callers to advertising. I would like to know if you figure this out.
It definitely could be a scam. But I also find that as time goes on, many websites have not updated their phone numbers, maybe because people tend to email and chat more. Making phone calls is starting to be a lost art.
I see what the problem is. Instead of calling 8252, I called 8752. I don’t know what 8752 is, and I don’t want to call it again to find out. It was something about Medicare plans and a free medical device in case you fall down, which I definitely don’t need as I’m in my 50s and fit as a fiddle lol.
Did you mean, “instead of calling 2582”?
Is it an ad for their insurance wing ?
I should have called 8252. I called 8752, @Zaku. (the correct number is in the link I posted, under Member Services).
I called the wrong number, which was the problem, @Tropical_Willie.
I’ve had something similar happen many years ago, probably sometime in the ‘00’s or thereabouts. I called misdialed a legitimate toll-free number, and got a similar situation.
@jca2 Huh, strange, since I followed the link, and the number I found ended in 2582, and I searched and didn’t see a number ending in 8252. Oh well.
