How do I get my old spell check bac?

Asked by Dutchess_III (47126points) May 4th, 2024

I’m not the best speller and this suggested words make it worse. I’ll start to type a word knowing it’s a word I probably can’t spell, like PRIVACY, and it offers my misspelled word as one of the options. >_<

^According to SD law, you’ll have to shoot the device.

Isn’t there a preference setting somewhere? Turn “Suggestions” or “Autocomplete ” off.

If there’s only one other option besides yours, choose the option that’s not your spelling.

I use the Firefox spellchecker, but it only gives me what it thinks is the correct option.
If I write “auttomobeel”, the only alternative provided is automobile.

What’s your unchecked spelling of “privacy”?

Are you referring to a spellchecker provided by your phone?

Quartly—I mean, I agree with @LuckyGuy that there should be an option to turn those settings off.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Quartly is an amount of rum.

@Dutchess_III Apparently, according to Ancestry, Quartly is a surname.

@Dutchess_III I googled that and it doesn’t come up. I think you’re incorrect.

Dutchess_III's avatar

@Nevada83….yeah! They were known for their rum!

Incorrect about what @@jca2!

jca2's avatar

There is no word “quartly” referring to rum or anything else, @Dutchess_III.

I was joking!
Per Navad83 it is actually a surname in Great Britain.

You’re such a good sport about my teasing, hahaha.

Well I deserve the teasing! I just wasn’t paying attention. Bleh.

RTFM or better yet; take it to your mobile phone company and have service fix it.

I’ll figure it out.
