When Stormy Daniels started to talk was her only penalty paying back the hush money?

Not sure I have the details right. She signed a contract and was paid. Then she started talking, what prompted her to talk initially? I assume she had to pay back the money. Did she? Is that the only thing she had to do regarding the original contract?
Thanks!

I don’t know much of anything about this. And I wonder if she paid income tax on the hush money at the time that she received it.
Just a wild guess: Perhaps the IRS came after her for tax evasion and she did a plea bargain to get off the hook in which she would have to spill the beans on Trump.
@gondwanalon Interesting guess. If she was paid, then yes, she should pay taxes. If it was considered a gift, then Trump would have to pay the taxes.
Trump did not sign the NDA, so there was no penalty. Daniels and her daughter were then threatened. She was in no way obligated to pay back the hush money. Forcing her to pay it back would be an admission of guilt.
Trump did not sign the NDA because he didn’t set it up. Michael Cohen did. What prompted her to talk after signing an NDA? I’m guessing she saw a chance to get more money.
I am sure the IRS is listening closely to this proceeding. Al Capone went down for similar deeds and bragging.
This was reported by CNN, but the link won’t open in Fluther…
Before her “60 Minutes” appearance, Michael Avenatti filed a lawsuit in March 2018 trying to get Stormy Daniels out of the nondisclosure agreement with Donald Trump.
By the fall of 2018, Michael Cohen and Donald Trump agreed not to enforce the NDA, Stormy Daniels confirms.
Daniels says she published a book after being freed of the NDA, titled “Full Disclosure.” She says the book is about her life, and it includes some descriptions of Trump.
Why did trump not want the NDA enforced?
