@Dutchess_III Lol. I was meaning exotic wild animals. Like lions and tigers. Also wild exotic animals, giraffe and hippo?
Chickens can be pretty damn exotic!
I don’t think carnivores would taste very good.
@Dutchess_III
If that were true, people would not eat dogs. Or most fish.
What would lion taste like, or vulture @Raggy?
One thing I read is that a primary reason why most livestock bred for eating is herbivorous, is pure economics.
A carnivore eats, as the name implies, other animals.
So you would have to industrially raise other animals to feed to the carnivores, and each level of animal in the food chain introduces an energy loss of 90%.
It is simply cheaper to just eat the herbivore, than to feed the herbivores to the carnivore to eat the carnivore.
Farm animals have been cultivated to have a pleasing flavor. The same is not tue of wild animals, which I would suspect have a gamy taste.
The only pure carnivores that I know I have eaten are tuna and salmon.
I ate bear one time. Didn’t like it. It was too drafty. HA!
Sure…squid, alligator, frog, shark
Had to look up chickens – ”Chickens are not carnivores even though a lot of people think they are, simply because they eat meat. A carnivore is a meat eater, right? But a carnivore’s diet is consist mainly of meat. Yes, chickens eat meat and raw meat, however as said earlier they have ability to eat and survive on both plant and meat. They are omnivores.”
Omnivore. Correct.
So are dogs.
Not cats tho. They are obligate carnivores.
When asked about carnivores I think of those mammals that are classified as such and belong to the Order Carnivora. Fish including sharks, squid, alligators and frogs, rodents, primates etc may eat meat but they are not carnivores.

Alligator.
Deer.
Hog/pig.
I’ve eaten some exotic fish.
In my travels, I have on a few occasions eaten something that I didn’t know the meat.
I just tried not to think about it, and usually I was hungry in those places so everything really comes down to the sauce.
Cod
Bluefish
Tums
Ratlesnake
Alligator
Pig
Swordfish
Squid
Octopus
Bonito
Scorpion
Barracuda
Deer are herbivores – they eat grass, bark, leaves, nuts, etc. Hogs/pigs are omnivores.
Sharks, squid, alligators, and frogs are carnivores. Interestingly, there are over 270 plants that are considered carnivorous. :o
@MrGrimm888 deer are herbivores not carnivores. So are horses and cows.
^You never saw a cow eat a chicken on YouTube?
Anyways. RDG clarified his q, after your first response.
He mentioned exotic/wild animals. He mentioned a Giraffe, and Hippo. Both herbivores.
I went with his moded details.
No I haven’t seen a cow eat a chicken!
@ragingloli…they aren’t “bred” to be herbivores. Evolution did that. Then we stepped in and modified the wild cattle. But not a whole lot.
OK @Raggy. But herbivores are more easily domesticated than carnivores.
^There’s a massive difference between a heard animal, and an apex predator.
