Left or right first?
I noticed today that I put on my socks and shoes consistently every day. Totally subconsciously.
Always left sock first, then right sock. Then left shoe followed by right.
And when I take them off, same: left side first, then right.
I don’t even think about it, it just happens.
What crazy place in the brain does left-side-first come from?
(Note: I am right handed and have been all my life).
What do you do first?

It’s just random for me every time. I don’t think I have a pattern.
Right first. Also right first when taking off my socks at night.
This is known as the Bunker Paradox.
This is my complete day…..
Left sock on
Right sock on
Left slipper on
Right slipper on.
Left slipper off
Left shoe on
Right slipper off
Right shoe on
Left shoe off

Right sock off.
Left first. Left sock right sock, then left shoe right shoe. I am a righty.
Whichever I pick up first.
Left everything first here too.
When I was a boy, a guy training me in boxing told me about a boxer that always put his left glove on first.
The habit stuck, to the point it’s almost OCD.
I’ve been watching. Usually left first for socks. Shoes are whichever is the first one I pick up.
Interestingly enough and without consciously thinking about it, after reading responses to this question, I’ve noticed that the last couple days I’ve done the sock and shoe thing on my right foot first which is opposite of what I usually do.
