Think of an apple right now. Do it!
a) Do you see a complete apple in color? What kind of apple is it?
b) Is your image of the apple in black and white?
c) Do you only see the word “apple”?
d) Are you in between?
I just found out that people have different imagination capabilities. I find that fascinating!
I’ll tell more later after I get some responses.

I see a whole red apple sitting on a table. It must be a Roma apple, but I’m not sure.
I’m skipping past the other answers and will look at them afterwards so I won’t be influenced.
I see a red apple that has a slice cut out of it so you can see the inside too, including the seeds. It’s definitely in color.
It is a whole red apple.
Followed by the robot chicken clip of the evil queen shanking snow white to death because she kept asking if the apple was organic.
I’m envisioning an apple like a McIntosh, that has a little yellow on it, near the top. A whole apple.
A big green Granny Smith with a stem. I can see the varying texture and coloration of the skin. It’s a bit rough on top, with a few lighter spots.
I see a typical red apple with green patches and a dull sheen (no wax) and some brown imperfections. I imagine the apples that were on our trees as kids.
I heard some people don’t dream in color. That surprised me.
Thank you for checking.
This weekend I met someone with aphantasia and found the whole concept amazing. I was hoping someone here would have it. I have so many questions!
Have you heard of this condition?
Pretty much this
Red apple sliced in half, showing seeds.
Red Ida about the size of a basket ball. I had a friend in high school, his family had a huge apple orchards. He passed away last year,
They had Red Ida apples that you could a pie from one apple, almost !
I see a Red delicious apple on a plate.
That begs the question, when you read text, do you hear the voice you would think the speaker sounds like? When you read your own writing do you hear yourself speak it?
I see a McIntosh, red with some patches of green, with a brown stem. It’s sitting on the kitchen counter at my parents’ house waiting to become pie. I guess that corresponds to choice A.
Red apple looking at it sort of looking down on it, side top, 3D. Like if it is at the supermarket in a 45° bin to grab it.
I’ve heard of the condition. A friend of mine has it, and thought I have it. I’m not really sure if I do or not. I don’t know if I see things in my mind like other people, or just know what something should look like.
I see a red apple, but it is sliced into and the insides look really moist and crisp. And now I’m hungry for an apple! But honestly, my favorite apple is a Fuji, which is more between red and yellow mixed.
I went back and read other people’s responses after writing mine. @filmfann we are apple twins!
I picture a dark red Delicious apple, which is weird because I don’t like them at all. It’s not sitting on anything, it’s just floating in space.
@LuckyGuy A woman in my congregation was just talking about this. She has aphantasia. I had never heard of it before.
Red delicious, on my cutting board, on the counter with my Wusthof chef’s knife, and a small plastic plate next to receive the cut pieces.
A psychologist once told me I was a bit hyperphantasiac.
I think I don’t really see it like other people. She’s probably right. When I close my eyes everything is gone.
@janbb I, too, hadn’t heard of it. It seemed impossible.
@canidmajor And I picture you standing next to the counter with the knife, cutting board, plate…. dressed in a…. Hmmm. a hyperphantasiac
@JLeslie Can you imagine other things? What about the trunk of an elephant? What do you see.
It is also not a vivid picture, nor detailed in any way. It is just a rough impression. It is also not persistent. It is just a glimpse of an apple, and it then disappears.
Big, dark red, intact. I see a picture in my head and it looks like a Red Delicious. Funnily enough, I hate red apples, I prefer the tart green ones.
I see a half apple lying cut side up and there are a few pips on it. It is a Pink Lady variety and the image is a memory of the apple I ate last night. The apple is quite clear and coloured but the plate it sits on is very vague.
After 22 replies, I find it funny that no one saw the white Apple logo.
Colors ranging from yellow to crimson and shiny from being well cleaned sitting next to the knife that will cut it for my consumption and enjoyment.
@LuckyGuy I don’t really see it, I just know what things look like. I did a Q about aphantasia a while ago or mentioned it on a Q, I tried to search for it so you could see the answers; the search doesn’t work.
I see a whole Apple, varied in red colors. Siting on the counter. It is full and ripe and beautiful skin. I then see it on the tree, just about to be picked by an unknown hand. The tree is a low old tree that has bore many fruit in its day. Yet this apple is the most perfect apple.
I then see a single bite. Top Center and the shape of a heart.
Like a photo of a whole, large, squat, dark red, speckled, glossy apple sitting on a vague grey surface, dramatically lit like a still-life subject.
