I’m in the wait and see camp but I’m glad there will be some life in the Democratic campaign again.

Trump openly promises a regressive, racist, authoritarian, destructive, misogynistic, anti-democratic, hate fest.

Biden has been a good president. Anyone he endorses will be the best candidate.

Guess who just fell out of the coconut tree?

With Biden’s endorsement, I don’t see how it can be anyone other than Kamala.

The next debate will at least be entertaining.

Just heard Maddow say “Kamala Harris will be the next president” talking with Katy Tur. I know Maddow is more political entertainment than a journalist, but when “the news” says thing like this it makes me so uneasy, it feels like when people try to manipulate me. They are propagating what they want to have happen rather than reporting what is happening.

I think it will likely be Harris, but I think it’s a mistake. I think she is not a sure thing against Trump, I’m curious what polls say, and I think she helps keep the unrest in the country ramped up.

Katy Tur saying things like “first female Black president.” Ugh, sick of that. Harris will not be like the Obama election, “first Black president.”

The election will be nerve racking until the last minute.

I like Gretchen Whitmer. I have no idea if she polls well. She probably is viewed as very liberal by independents, I’m just guessing. I think she can deliver Pennsylvania.

I think Harris would lose in Pennsylvania.

The good news is that no matter who takes Biden’s spot, people who would have voted for him will still vote against trump.

I am sure Harris will do great with the anti-police-violence and ACAB crowd./s

“The good news is that no matter who takes Biden’s spot, people who would have voted for him will still vote against trump.”

This isn’t true. Among some would-be Biden voters are swing voters who might prefer Trump to Harris or anyone else.

Polling data has Harris doing worse than Biden would have. Of course, this may change in the coming weeks, for better or worse.

I think Harris will be anointed as the nominee, and I think you should all brace yourselves for a Trump victory in November.

Of course, there’s one name that could beat Trump, but the DNC would literally prefer to lose and have a Trump presidency to that idea.

^And who is that?

The only one with a ghost of a chance is Harris.

There are others I would prefer, but Kamala Harris is the only one who has a possibility of winning.

@Kropotkin Anyone who is a swing voter and would choose Trump over Harris was never a swing voter to begin with. They had their mind set on Trump long ago. The differences between Trump and Harris is ridiculously wide. Todays politics is so worlds apart that I can’t believe anyone could be completely ignorant of the differences.

Now, what can happen is Dems lose votes to Kennedy but that would’ve happened with or without Biden. However, the biggest thing that drives swing voters away from Biden and Trump is age. So,Trump will be the top old guy on the ticket and Harris is way younger and may be preferable in their eyes. Most swing voters are younger and not necessarily tied to politics.
Oh, to answer the question, Kamala is already getting a lot of Dem support and Biden has named her to take his place. So I think that’s pretty solid. I said it before. It has to be her. Anyone else and they would be guaranteed to lose. They would get lower voters than Kennedy. Women and minorities would be pissed off and Dems will lose the house and may never recover.

I’m watching CNN and they are mentioning all the potential candidates that have been mentioned have endorsed Kamala tonight.

janbb's avatar

@jonsblond Yes, it seems like people are lining up behind Kamala in a show of unity and getting on with things. I’m not unhappy.

^They all want the VP spot. I agree with you. The past few weeks have felt hopeless. We need a candidate now who will be strong against Trump.

Some of the most notable endorsements today for Kamala Harris For President have come from BILL and HILLARY CLINTON; Sen. PATTY MURRAY (D-Wash.), the highest-ranking woman in the Senate; Rep. JIM CLYBURN (D-S.C.); the leaders of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Congressional Progressive Caucus and the Congressional Asian and Pacific Islander Caucus; Sens. @jonsblond no doubt, but she’s not actually a candidate until she’s nominated.

It reminds me of the German poltician who had this slogan on his election campaign sign “Sie kennen mich.”
Which translates to “You know who I am”.
They chose Kamala because she is the current VP. She is a known quantity. And they think that is enough.
