Is anybody else here sick of political questions?

Asked by LifeQuestioner (3975points) 1 month ago

I used to come on this site to answer interesting and creative questions but lately it seems like people are asking questions just to antagonize others or to start a political argument. If I wanted that, I would go on Twitter. Can we get back to trying to ask some non-political questions?

Yeah but they are the only questions that get everyone participating .

This happens every election season unfortunately. This is usually the time I take a break from the site.

@jonsblond yeah, I’m thinking I’m going to do that. It’s just a bunch of bickering back and forth where one side has their conspiracy theories and the other side tries to talk since and I’m just tired of it.

You don’t have to click on a question you’re not interested in. You’re welcome to ask other non-political questions and get a conversation going.

^^^ Pretty sure everybody knows that. It’s still annoying.

I am also sick of the majority of Qs being political and everybody being pissy.

Yes, it does get tiresome especially since we all know each other’s opinions so well. I do think there is an uptick during election seasons but I lay low from time to time, especially when it becomes a back and forth between two people who will never change their minds.

Since we can’t vote anyone or any issue off the island, let’s try to be mindful to ask other questions too.

Actually, the questions are fine and thought provoking. Some the answers are stupid.

It also seems that a question may have already been asked, but someone comes along who thinks they can do better so they re-ask it by rearranging the words and adding to them. Or someone will ask basically the same question but put it in Social instead of General, or vice versa.

This time of year is when I usually grow tired of politics in general. This is what happens when you close your borders…you lose any new ideas or thoughts. Some days, the ONLY question on which I have an opinion is the political ones. The rest are boring & I have nothing exciting to ask. Rather than just leaving, I add my 2 cents worth. After saying my peace, I go elsewhere & don’t argue the point because I either know what certain others are going to say or I feel you have the same right to believe what you believe as I do. I simply REFUSE to be caught up in the BS!!!

I don’t get caught up in it either, but sometimes it’s like the simpering christmas music that starts around halloween or thanksgiving. I don’t sing along but if I go almost anywhere, it’s there and annoying!

They’re only getting started. Get used to it. This happens every election cycle on Fluther.

I find politics very interesting myself, but I do feel some are posted to be cheeky like ‘I told you so’ more than seeking real factual replies.
The fact is, emotion-based politics are far less interesting as stated above, we all know where eachother stands so it seems rather childish at times. No one is changing anyones votes so it seems pointless on some Q’s.

This site can be very slow at times, so if there is excitement for a topic and lots of questions and comments about it, I’m for it.

Anything that’s not appealing, we have the option of ignoring.

Oh, who wants to talk about our future. I mean it’s going to happen anyway.

Everything is exacerbated by the approaching election.
The election could be a crucial time in history. It could potentially change or ruin many people’s lives. If that’s not something to talk about, what is?

To accurately answer the question, YES I get sick of everything political.
