A facebook friend wants to bet a dollar that JD will be sent packing and Nikki Haley will replace him.

I’m not sure but the USA is full of cabinet, and not cabinet, positions available for cronies, and nepotism. Including diplomat to figi and other cushy jobs.

take the bet. Trump will dump Vance for someone more useful for the electorate.

On the other hand, if Trump does get rid of Vance, the MAGA and Tea Party people will have a shit fit.

Will be entertaining.

I read that JD and his wife are getting a bunch of racist communication from the racist MAGA crowd because his wife is from India. They don’t like that his children have traditional Indian names. His own party is turning on him.

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

Also Trump doesn’t need to replace J.D Vance. He can name Nikki Haley a special counsel.

@jonsblond If the Trump campaign starts to worry about JD’s wife being Indian then they definitely will not put in Nikki, she is Indian.

Well, there’s no doubt Vance was selected to help Trump go against Biden, not Kamala.

Vance is definitely “MAGA-pilled”, but I don’t see how he wins over swing voters.

Yes, the choice is not working out.

I think it’s likely Vance gets replaced, but uncertain. I’d lay 60/40 odds. ;-)

Or maybe we will see Trump nominating a Second Vice President (how about one of his kids?). There’s nothing in the Constitution that says he can’t, right?

Vance replaced? They can replace him with a pickle and they still wouldn’t win.

Ooops…this isn’t that movie question is it?

Look at last time Trump was elected, he fired people every week. His staff and cabinet had such high turnover. I wouldn’t be surprised.

Biden was smart, waiting until AFTER Vance was locked in place…to pull out of the race. Clever.

Possibly, it depends on how they interact. Vance tends to call out poor behavior and has been very critical of Trumps sexual assault issues.
I think it will be a good balance if they can work together.

I doubt it. Haley’s name was in the hat to start with and was not considered. Vance brings in an interesting perspective to the American people: someone who came from humble roots. He understands the common man far better than other politicians these days.

Trump’s VP, is irrelevant.

@MrGrimm888 . . . until he dies.

^Evil NEVER dies. It will simply take a different shape.

“In the United States, there can only be one Vice President at a time. The U.S. Constitution does not provide for the appointment or election of multiple Vice Presidents simultaneously. The Vice President’s role is to support the President and to succeed them if necessary, and having more than one Vice President could complicate this line of succession.”

Demosthenes's avatar

I think Trump also picked Vance because Vance has negative charisma, like DeSantis, and Trump can’t be upstaged.

smudges's avatar

I read somewhere that among other reasons, it was to have a “pretty face” in his campaign which would get votes. (Sorry, I looked in my history and can’t find it. It may have been a comment on the side of whatever page I was viewing.)

MrGrimm888's avatar

^Well. It’s another white face.
Another glorious man, who in spite of ALL the disadvantages of being a white Christian, he rose to call Trump Hitler.
And now, he’s overcome his bad feelings towards Trump!

Take that world! Two angry white men, crying about being victims. An eclectic melting pot, and perfect image of this country’s interests going into 2025!

I just want to thank God…

Wednesday night, Colbert did a skit about it called “Hillbilly Eulogy.” Ha ha ha ha ha

Only IF he continues to talk about himself & what he’s bringing to the cult. 45 doesn’t give a crap what he says about women. He cares even less that his base isn’t happy with him. Still, he WILL notice that he’s not telling everyone how wonderful 45 is. That could be the deal breaker!!!

Even if he does get dropped, I’ve been reading that deSantis is next in line. 45 won’t go for a female.

smudges's avatar

^^ hmmm…trump with a woman for VP. Interesting to imagine. He might think he would have her in his pocket and be surprised.

elbanditoroso's avatar

Trump won’t choose DeSantis if the opportunity arises, for fear of being upstaged.

MrGrimm888's avatar

When I think of DeSantis, I always think about what people close to him said about him dating.
DeSantis, alledgedly, would mispronounce the word Thia, as “thigh.” When he would ask a girl out. It was his first test, by asking them if they wanted to try thigh food. If the girl told him, he was mispronouncing Thai, that disqualified her from being his girlfriend. He did NOT want a woman, who corrected him.

I find it hard to believe DeSantis could put up with Trump for any amount of time, as his superior.

Thigh food. That’s a clever way of seeing which girls were promiscuous.
