Who's watching the Olympics?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37734points) July 28th, 2024

Isn’t it wonderful?!

It’s such a joy to watch. Pure happiness.

(I can’t get over how young all these athletes are. When did I get old?)

I am, especially the gymnastics.
The opening ceremony and Celine Dion’s performance were wonderful, and the lights on the Eiffel Tower were wonderful.

I start to, but either there are too many ‘features’ (bios of athletes) or too many ads. In any even, far less competition than I want to see.

I am! Watched men’s basketball (USA vs. Serbia) this morning, watched women’s mountain biking, caught some women’s rugby, a little swimming, men’s field hockey, and women’s soccer.

The number of ads and profiles is much less than the old days of ABC sports.

I’ve been playing D&D all weekend so I haven’t seen anything. But I will this week.

I am.

I watched some of the opening ceremonies, but I missed seeing Coco Gauff bearing the US flag.
I saw Women’s Street Skateboarding, and Coco Yakizawa won the Gold!
I’m coocoo for the Coco’s! ;-D

I’m eagerly anticipating track & field, especially Sha’Carri Richardson in the 100 meter and the 4X100 relay.

I’m also looking forward to seeing women’s basketball, tennis, and break dancing,

@brian I kinda hoped they would have given the flag at the ceremonies to someone other than Gauff and James. Everybody knows them, but if they gave it to a lesser known athlete with a cool story it would have been cooler.

@Caravanfan

Because Coco lost again at Wimbledump, I want to see her happy once more, regardless of how well-known she is.
Since the tennis events are going to be held at Garros, I’m afraid the gold will be going to Swiatek.

As much as I like King James, I wouldn’t be surprised if he displayed a Nike and a Pepsi with his other hand.
So I agree with you there. I would rather see Suni Lee be the other bearer.

If Coco G wins the Gold, I’ll celebrate with a plate of couscous and then a bowl of eponymous Puffs! ;-D

Occasionally, I enjoyed the opening and floor last night.

We will see all of our young men and women from both Auburn University and University of Alabama. I believe there are 26 of them. I’m not watching as closely as he is.

I’m watching it though it makes me feel I peaked about 45 years ago.

I was traveling for the past week so I missed some of the opening ceremonies and some of the gymnastics. I don’t watch during the day.

I really enjoy seeing the incredible feats from the gymnasts.

I watched the opening ceremony and I thought it was great!

Watched a little bit of the diving and a very little bit of the gymnastics so far.

I have been interested to note how it is running the spectrum from amusing (Turkish guy) to gasp-worthy (Katie Ledeky, Simone Biles) to often stupidly contentious (too many to enumerate).
I look forward to the Breaking competition tomorrow, I loves me a new and interesting category!
