Vegetables already are expensive! It’s cheaper to consume junk food and candy than it is to eat healthy. It’s one of the problems with the world, not to mention the extreme waste.

It depends more on things like water scarcity and labor costs. Vegetables go up and down in price but usually one can find ones that are affordable.

I guess it also depends on where you get them. I get delivery from Walmart due to physical issues, and it’s usually $1.80 for a head of lettuce, $1.88 for a stalk of celery and $2.86 for cauliflower. I think that’s outrageous. Course, I remember when lettuce and celery were less than a dollar, and it wasn’t that long ago. Prices increased during covid and never came back down because they know they can get away with it. Just wrong.

It already is. I just saw a five-pound bag of Yukon Gold potatoes for $10.xx.

Yes. We’ve already seen it happening. But it isn’t usually just from inflation, though that does play a part. Sometimes it is preferences. There was a time that lobster was seen as food only poor people and convicts ever ate. Then it was found to be damn tasty and that all changed.

People started moving from beef to chicken or pork or seafood. Then the prices of those things started going up as the demand went up. Then people started eating more vegetables, straining the supplies. So those prices went up. Inflation only really plays a part when it comes to how much extra it costs to obtain the various foods and get them to market.
