If I work online in Canada, at home, in the US, do I still pay taxes in both countries?
Also do I need a work visa?

I’ve NEVER had to worry about where I file my taxes so I might be wrong. Guessing here, you’re working for a Canadian company who does business in the US. I’d think that you’d only pay in Canada. This would be a Q for you to ask your contact at the company. If your contacts in the US are mostly by phone, I see NO reason to have a work visa. You won’t be living in the US, so visa not required. As I said, I could be totally off base, so ask the company about the rules.
Officially, your employer is in Canada so you probably need to pay Canadian taxes. As @LadyMarissa suggests – talk to your company about that.
I think I understand – - You live in Canada, work for a US company remotely. It is a residency thing, My wife worked remotely for her company with offices in another state, she paid for both states’ income states !
Taxes will be paid to both countries including USA’s IRS, SS taxes and any local or state taxes. My brother worked for a US company throughout Europe, off and on; before he retired, taxes were complex and CPA, paid for by his company, did all the taxes for both countries.
Do you have a new job, RDG?
That’s a question for your CPA or tax preparer.
Update I called my tax preparer. They said that I would have to file taxes for both countries, but most likely not have to pay US tax , ( unless it is large amount of income).
Probably a delta tax if tax in the US would have been higher. That’s what the IRS wants for bank interest from another country.
If you file as head of household you can make up to about $20,000 in the USA.
Read your tax instructions. They are clear about this.
I believe some states have tax laws that require anyone doing business in that state must pay state taxes. Federal income taxes also have similar requirements.
