For around the house, carpentry and plumbing. Also electrical like hooking up hardwired lamps, ceiling fans, dishwashers, etc.

electrical repairs, mechanical repairs, farming/gardening, basic chemistry, an innovative spirit, a questioning attitude, and a willingness to try.

Two great ones that can come in handy are refinishing furniture, where you can take any old piece of raggedy crap and sand it, stain it or paint it, poly it and make it look like new or make it look like something different, and reupholstering furniture (ditto). I can refinish things and I have the equipment (sanders, knowledge of how to apply poly, etc.) but one thing I never learned to do that I wish I could do is reupholster furniture. You can take anything raggedy and rip the upholstery off and make it look incredible.

I think a great skill to have, which is something becoming less and less popular but may come in handy for people one day, is knowing how to drive a stick shift. Even though it’s difficult, if not impossible, to buy a new car that is manual transmission now, it’s a good skill to know. If by chance there’s an emergency and the only vehicle available for you to drive away from the scene is a stick shift, you’ll know how to do it. Another example is you need to borrow a car for some dire reason and the only car or vehicle available for you is a stick shift, you can do it, otherwise you are Shit Out of Luck.

It’s something that once you learn it, you’ll know it forever.

Knowing when to keep your mouth shut.

Knowing how to write halfway decently – not making things too lengthy, knowing where to put the commas, and interspersing that with proper knowledge of spelling, for example the difference between to, too and two, or their, there and they’re. Not to compose like an English teacher, but just something that makes the writer not look like a total moron.
