Does anyone know of a website I can access to design a home?

Asked by Pandora (32436points) August 23rd, 2024

I’m looking to build my home and I will meet with a designer in a few days. I know this is what I’m paying him for but I want to go in knowing exactly what I want and how I want and have him tweak it not go in with unrealistic ideas and spend a lot of time and money him saying not doable. Even if its a paid for site, I would appreciate it so long as its easy to access and navigate Free of course would be better.

I used to have software that did this.

When I designed my home from scratch I just drew squares more or less where I wanted rooms and I new the sizes I wanted rooms, and the architect drew it up. I knew I wanted a square living room 16×16 for the furniture floating. I knew I wanted my bedroom 15×20. I knew I wanted secondary bedroom 12×14, etc.

If you can find a floorplan you love and just say the few things you wish were different that could be the easiest. There are lots of websites and magazines with floorplans.

I’m confused about what you’re looking for. Are you looking to build 3d designs of your existing home’s architecture and fill it with virtual furniture to render out what you want, where? Are you looking to design the entire architecture of a house? or are you looking for an “art board” tool for picking swatches of fabrics, photos of other houses that you like, colors, patterns, pieces of furniture and fixtures for each room that you like? All exist, but it’d be helpful to know what you’re looking to accomplish when you say “design a home.”

^^Pretty sure the OP just wants to draw out a floorplan.
