Now that some details are coming out about Ryan Routh, what are some questions you'd like to see answered?

After an assassination attempt that was stopped, Ryan Routh of Hawaii was arrested as the shooter. More and more information is coming out about him. What questions would you like to see the investigations give answers to?

I’m out of the loop, the last I saw there was a separate altercation near Trump, so not directed at him. So I guess that changed?

For me, I’d like to get some information about how/where he got his gun. He was arrested many years ago with a felony for owning/possessing an unlicensed fully automatic weapon. I don’t know a state in the union that would let him buy a gun with a record like that. And Hawaii has some of the strictest gun laws in the US. How was he able to even buy/own that gun?

Along the same lines, he flew to the mainland from HI. How did he ship the gun without alerting authorities? His name would have likely flagged him.

@Blackberry Trump was on the golf course. His Secret Service detail had at least one group patrolling ahead of him on the golf course. He was on hole #5, and this detail was cruising up towards/along hole #6. They saw the rifle sticking through the fence. He supposedly shot towards them and they shot back. No one was hit. He had several backpacks, a GoPro camera to film the event, and an AR style rifle. When he fled, a civilian nearby saw him and got pictures of his car. They arrested him on I-95 a little while later. He never even asked why he was being pulled over. That is the story in a nutshell. The only reason anyone can come up with for why he was waiting/hiding in the bushes with a rifle and a camera was that he was waiting for Trump to come along. He had a very active social media that showed he hated Trump. No, Trump didn’t get shot, but they are still considering it an assassination attempt.

How did he get so close to trump? Geez this is ridiculous. His detail men need to be more thorough.
Also, how did the guy know where trump would be? It took some planning and maybe someone close to trump is spilling secrets?

Blackberry's avatar

Oh wow ok, that escalated quickly.

Trump is a divisive character, it seems there’s gonna be very passionate lovers and haters.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Well how did he obtain the weapon, and how did he know the Don Father’s movements?

elbanditoroso's avatar

Why does he lighten his hair?

jca2's avatar

I would like to hear about his history and what gave him the idea to do such a radical thing.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

I would like to know if it was obtained legally?
Nothing much can be done if he got it on that black market.

Blackwater_Park's avatar

@SQUEEKY2 He is a felon, it was illegally obtained.

From what I’ve heard,it sounds like the guy was very passionate about the Ukraine and Russia war.
Trump, has publicly said he would stop helping the Ukraine, and maybe even pull put of NATO, if elected.
I guess, this guy thought killing Trump, would prevent that from happening.

Nothing else, makes sense yet.

Phone tracking data, shows he was there for over 12 hours.
I’m definitely interested in how the guy knew about Trump’s location, and obviously, how he got the firearm.
One of his charges, is for “obliterating” a serial number on a firearm. So. Either the person who sold it to him, or he, tried to scratch the serial number off of the weapon.
This usually actually doesn’t work, as testing can usually still find out the scratched out number. But it stinks of illegal arms dealing.
Unless the serial number was expertly removed, it will be traced potentially to someone, but maybe not.

If someone just tried scratching the number off, that points to the person not knowing what they’re doing.

This guy, to me, seems like another “lone wolf” type.
Just a crazy guy, who was triggered by something Trump said/did, and doing something really stupid.

What’s interesting is that both would be assassins, seemingly just were able to get a rifle within range of a former US president, and it didn’t take genius planning or even a very smart person.
I heard it was an “AK style weapon.”
If that’s the case, or even if it is another AR, it’s another lucky detail for Trump. That these guys keep picking terrible weapons for the job.

According to Trump, he’s a billionaire, many times over.
I’m uncertain, why he doesn’t hire his own security.
Secret Service, has been falling off.
Is this another DEI caused blunder?

gondwanalon's avatar

When will he be executed?

elbanditoroso's avatar

@gondwanalon he won’t be. For one thing, nobody died in this weekend escapade. And owning a gun (even if you are a felon) so far doesn’t qualify for capital punishment (although maybe it should).

Chances are that he gets a good lawyer and the charges are dropped. They’re not even sure he was out to kill Trump.

chyna's avatar

Note: trumps detail shot 4 to 6 times and missed him. He needs new people that can shoot.

seawulf575's avatar

@chyna 300 yds with a pistol is pretty difficult. Add that to shooting through bushes and a fence and it isn’t as easy as you might think.

mazingerz88's avatar

When would the douchebag Trump stop being a dangerous political asshole so people would not think about killing him?

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Wulfie how do you know it was a handgun?
I read the secret service said they saw a rifle through the fence then fired on it, and it was an AKstyle weapon.

seawulf575's avatar

@SQUEEKY2 He had a rifle, I thought I heard the SS guys had pistols. @chyna made the comment that they shot 4–6 times and missed him and that Trump needs new people that can shoot. That is why I commented about the handguns.

As I dig into this more I think another question I really want answered is if Blackrock is involved with both assassination attempts since both Crooks and Routh were shown in Blackrock commercials. Not the same commercials, different commercials. That seems awfully coincidental and should be looked at.

As for the gun, his son made a statement that he didn’t even own a gun. So where did the gun come from?

MrGrimm888's avatar

The guy’s like 65. You’re telling me, he outran all of Trump’s security, with only a 300 yard head start?..

I thought they probably just hired a bunch of 5 star guys, after those DEI hires almost let Trump get killed.

Which IS, how many conservatives have acted. Like DEI programs put Trump’s life in danger. Well. His replacements, didn’t get him through a couple months…

I haven’t the slightest idea, why people with rifles, keep walking up on Trump…......

JLeslie's avatar

I want to know who he has been listening to, associating with, or watching, over time that he thought it made sense to take up arms and execute someone.

mazingerz88's avatar

^^The guy self-published a book. Hates Putin. Supports Ukraine. Most of the time, 1 + 1 is simply 2.

seawulf575's avatar

@JLeslie That brings up another question: Why did all the social media companies rush to shut down his accounts? I can find some links where people have archived his pages and are posting them:
https://truthpress.com/news/social-media-posts-from-would-be-trump-assassin-ryan-routh-discovered/

This is an example. It sounds, amazingly, like he was singing the same song the Dems have pushed for 8 years: Trump’s a threat to democracy.

JLeslie's avatar

@seawulf575 That might be standard practice to shut down the social media after something like this. I’m sure the FBI is looking through all of it.

I read he voted for Trump and the switched. It makes sense that some of the media messaging about Trump being a threat to democracy might have got to this guy, but also actually picking up a gun to go fight or kill, that “rise up” attitude is messaged on the right and especially among extremist Libertarians, and he was listening to all of it.

jca2's avatar

I was thinking exactly what @JLeslie said about the social media sites. They may shut the sites down so they can’t be hacked by anyone, now that they’re being investigated.

elbanditoroso's avatar

Is this Routh any kin to the actor Brandon Routh? (who played Superman)

seawulf575's avatar

@JLeslie I’m sure that shutting down social media sites is something that happens in cases like these. It just seems like it happened within minutes or hours instead of days as seems the norm. I could be off. But honestly, I’m not even sure why they would shut the down to start with. It was posted for the world to see, it was deemed appropriate by the outlets…it seems as if in the spirit of transparency they could be left up. The only reason I could see for freezing the accounts is so someone else couldn’t go on there to delete posts. But I would think you could freeze the account without taking it down.

The reason I’m all for leaving it up is so everyone can see what triggered this guy, what his posting tell us about how he was influenced. I think that is far more valuable towards alerting people than trying to bury it.

JLeslie's avatar

@seawulf575 Some possibilities: he was being monitored already, or hadn’t been caught at all beforehand.

The social media sites can’t monitor all activity. A post might trip a mod for different reasons, but doesn’t catch everything.

KNOWITALL's avatar

He’s a passionate (use your own words) activist. Imo there are people on all sides willing to die for a cause, and this person is one of them. It could very well be Kamala next time, so I hope both details are beefed up.

MrGrimm888's avatar

^Yeah. I think this guy, would have tried to kill Harris too, if she didn’t say the “right” things, about Ukraine.

It doesn’t help anything, that two men have gotten so close to Trump with a rifle.
The Crooks character, looked pretty feckless and he was fairly reckless in his planning and attempted execution.
He chose the wrong weapon, he had private range skills (at best.)
He was even interrupted moments before he took his shots, and he still hit his target.

This Routh guy, is another fairly fringe of society character. Not a well trained assassin, and with his criminal record, he’s clearly not good at getting away with crimes. Yet. He hung out at Trump’s, for 12 hours, before I guess just walking up to the golf course with an AK-47.

These are hardly elite soldiers, or carefully planted foreign agents, with lots of resources.

KNOWITALL's avatar

@MrGrimm888 I wonder why Trump hasnt asked for volunteers from his patriots for security. Free and probably better than what hes getting.

MrGrimm888's avatar

^That’s what I’ve been saying!
I’m 100% positive, there would be no shortage of volunteers, to safeguard him.

Perhaps, he knows the truth. If his followers, are stupid enough to fall for his act, they probably shouldn’t be protecting a lump of coal…

I, however, would NEVER tire of seeing Trump try and play a round of golf, with some of the characters that slither into his rallies standing around him.
He’d be safe-ish, with them.

They probably already have to keep his “extra special” fans, from hanging out at his home.
Another reason, I’m surprised by how these shooters have gotten so close.

mazingerz88's avatar

Lol Seriously “his patriots” for his security? Who the Proud Boys?

Who would volunteer to leave their jobs and families ( if they do have jobs and families to support ) to guard a blowhard like Trump for free? And if promised compensation what are the chances they will get paid?

And how would he look like with “his patriots” guarding him like the “threat to Democracy wannabe authoritarian” that he is?

KNOWITALL's avatar

@mazingerz88 I was joking but I’m sure some would gladly volunteer.
