How do you feel about a potential President J D Vance?

Asked by Strauss (23766points) 2 days ago

The Vice President is often said to be one heartbeat away from the Presidency. Given his running mate’s age and the number of “assassination attacks”, it occurred to me as likely as not that Trump may not survive a full term. Given that scenario, would you be comfortable with J D Vance as President of the United States?

I’d be okay with it. I’d prefer him over Harris and even more than Walz. Politicians talk about supporting the middle class, but most of them never were middle class. Vance at least grew up poor and knows the struggles all the way up.

He’s a sly, manipulative misogynist. I would not feel OK about that.

It’s not like we have any real choices. Would you rather be f**ked from a slightly left angle or a slightly right one?

As a Jewish woman with many gay and immigrant friends and relatives, I would not be comfortable with someone trying to impose Christian nationalist patriarchal values on this country.

Who would his VP be? Marjory Taylor Greene?

jca2's avatar

I think he’s an asshole.

chyna's avatar

Hate him. He wants to put women back to the ‘50’s where they “know their place.”

If emojis could be rendered correctly on this site, I would post the clown emoji. That about sums up what I think of JD Vance. In either case, JD Vance’s existence depends on leeching off another. He is nothing without Trump.

Why I’m just tickled pink at that prospect.

Vance is the jester employed by the king of clowns. His reign would be just as much of a circus, but hopefully one with a collapsing tent.

He’s the male version of Sarah Pallin. Only Trump is no McCain. I had respect for McCain

Hopefully, Trump’s assassins, consider this.

Vance, is a TOTAL LOSER, and a bitch (for calling Trump Hitler, then joining him.)
He’s close to as bad as Trump, in interviews, despite being significantly younger and in theory less demented.

Trump is a mercurial person. It’s possible that he would be the first president to fire his VP, if Vance rubs him the wrong way.

jca2's avatar

@Pandora the only person who didn’t respect McCain was Trump himself.

jca2's avatar

@MrGrimmm i don’t think Vance could be fired, as he is elected. He could be impeached, but that’s a process and i don’t think it’s up to Trump.

MrGrimm888's avatar

^Trump fired practically all non-family members, during his administration.
I was thinking, after I wrote it, that it probably isn’t in his power. But. That doesn’t mean Trump wouldn’t try, and ultimately succeed in removing him. Through whatever means, become available…

I would assume he is paid off by the billionaire religious Dominionists trying to take over the country. Pence was scary to me in a similar way, but I don’t think he was paid, I think he just really was a religious fundamentalist. In the end he showed he would not be controlled by the fanatics, but Vance I would not hold my breath. He seems completely unprepared to me, but all I know about him is the few interviews I have seen. The VP debate will be interesting, but the debates are mostly theatre, so who knows if I will really learn much.

jca2's avatar

@MrGrimm888 Yes, Trump fired many during his previous administration, the difference being those people weren’t elected to their positions. When they’re elected by the people, it’s a whole different ballgame.

I would be creeped out to take a cart from him in Walmart. That is about his capability as a person.

MrGrimm888's avatar

I understand @jca2 .

In an article about Springfield Ohio, cut and pasted from the NY Times. I think this says it all. He admits to lying or as he puts it, “making up stories.”

As for Vance, who spearheaded this smear campaign when he amplified the claim on social media, he confessed to elevating rumors and lies to prove a political point. “If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people,” Vance said on Sunday, “then that’s what I’m going to do.”

janbb's avatar

@jca2 I saw that too. and in the meantime, he has amplified the suffering of American people in Springfield and elsewhere and also immigrants who live her legally. They are monsters.

ragingloli's avatar

They are so far gone that they can now openly admit that they are lying, yet their braindead supporters will contintue to believe the lies.
