Why is fluther not working on my computer?

Asked by Pandora (32398points) 2 months ago

I signed in on my phone and can only use the phone setting on my computer but not the regular web page. It won’t download the pictures just a bunch of words. Its been doing this for a while and by usually the second click I can get it to upload the page but its not even doing that now.

If you go to the bottom of the page on your computer, you should see a Mobile | Desktop option line.

Click on Desktop.

@Brian1946 Its not working still. Clicking on desk top does nothing. Its no longer even looking like it does on my phone. Its just a white page with everything written to the left side of the screen.

Try opening Fluther in an Incognito window. If it’s normal there, the problem can probably be fixed by clearing your cache. You can do that just for Fluther. If you google “clear cache” with the name of your browser, you’ll find instructions.

@longgone

“Try opening Fluther in an Incognito window.”

Do you mean a window where one is logged out?

It’s the same in incognito window. And I cleaned out my cache.

I was having the same trouble about 2 weeks ago.
I tried the same procedures, with no success.

it then returned to normal about 2 or 3 days later.
I think that may have been just after Ben reset or fixed something, but I’m not sure about that.

@Pandora What does it say in your address bar? Can you copy/paste the URL?

Should be working now.

Thanks Ben.

“What does it say in your address bar?”

Good idea.
I’m going to investigate that the next time it happens to me.

It’s weird. Now it’s working again like @Brian said. Only thing other than cleaning out my cache and history is I updated my Security and rebooted the computer twice oh, and I untethered my cell phone from my computer.

I’ve heard it’s a good thing to routinely (like once a week) turn off your phone. Just a thought.

A fellow jelly asked me to post that he can’t access the site from his android phone. The message he is getting is it can’t be verified as a secure site. Something about the security certificate couldn’t be verified.
