Have you used collagen treatments?

Asked by Jeruba (56061points) 2 months ago

Do you use collagen, or have you in the past?

In what form, and for how long? On your own, or with a doctor’s guidance?

What did you take it for? Did it help? What did it do? Would you recommend it?

And any other related questions you can think of.

I’m considering laser treatments now if that’s what you mean by collagen treatments. I saw a couple of good videos and went to two different places to see what they recommended.

Here’s one of the youtubes that was very thorough. https://youtu.be/iQ-kJjlTFxc?si=rWGkRb3aJ-TrmrC_ Her skin is more flawless than I would ever want to try for and she is much younger, so don’t let that throw you.

I recommend searching for a few more videos before you decide.

I have found that if I am really good about regularly taking quality collagen supplements (I mean really good, like every day, 3 X per day) it afforded some relief from joint pain. However, I am not really good at remembering that stuff.
My medico’s attitude was “Give it a try if you want and let me know”. Not a ringing endorsement, to be sure.

There were no negative effects, that I recall.

@Jeruba Do you mean the collagen you take by mouth or collagen injections? I haven’t used either but have considered both.

My doc said collagen might help my joints and my hair loss from when I took Ozempic, but the array of brands is dizzying so I never tried it.

@canidmajor What brand do you use? Is it expensive? Sounds like it could really add up at three times/day. I don’t think I’d have trouble remembering to take it because I already take different meds 3 x/day.

Oh, @smudges, I’m sorry, I don’t remember. I suggest you check the review sites online, and talk to your local health food store person, sometimes they have pretty good insights. Mostly I use CBD supplements now, I have pretty good results from them.

Clarifying: I meant collagen in any form, for any purpose.

The lasers stimulate your own collagen to smooth wrinkles.
