Antocosti is north of P.E.I. Is (Prince Edward Island), and south of Labrador, Canada.

They are both the same size.

Okay, that’s very strange. I was literally just viewing Instagram stories of my friend’s recent trip to Quebec, and a few of the photos were taken from Anticosti. It’s not a place you hear about every day. Yet then I log into Fluther a few minutes later and here is a question about Anticosti.

I don’t know why Anticosti was not settled the way PEI was. Perhaps because it is more difficult to get to? Perhaps it lacks arable land? In either case, Anticosti has a population of around 200, but PEI has a population of about 180,000. PEI seems to have had an identity as its own colony from early on, whereas Anticosti was only ever really a remote outpost, mostly important for its timber.

Politics. PEI has economic power and votes. Anticosti has rocks.
