You can measure the height of a tree by taking the size of an acorn and using geometrical calculations to estimate the fully grown height.
You can see this in early mathematics, dating back to ancient Greece.
What happens is that you plant the acorn, and in 10–15 years, the all-grown-up acorn says:
“Gee, I’m A Tree”.
That’s where the word came from.
My university offered a 500 level fractal geometry course. I did not get to take it but wish I had.
