When you go to Starbucks, do you get custom drinks made, or do you just order off the menu?

I don’t go to Starbucks, unless I have to, which is about twice a year so this is not something I’m familiar with. On the rare occasions when I do go, I just order off the menu.
I have been reading recently about the new CEO of Starbucks, and how he is trying to streamline the menu because it can be very time consuming for the baristas to make custom drinks for everyone.
A friend, who loves Starbucks, tells me that the “thing” about it is that you can get your drink custom made. That’s why their drinks are so expensive. That’s also why I don’t like Starbucks – I can’t stand the idea of a six dollar drink. Maybe it’s worth six dollars if you get one pump of this and two pumps of that, I don’t know.

Last time I went to a Starbucks I ordered a lemon cake with icing. Was delicious.
I haven’t been to StarBux in 16 years. Black shot of Espresso.
My standard order is custom: “ triple tall non fat latte.” I get that about four times a week,
Starbucks got in bed with Nestlé in 2018.
I don’t go to Starbucks, but I do go to Scooters. I order a turtle latte with an extra shot and ¼ of the flavoring, no whipped cream (cuz I don’t think it’s real, it’s just chemicals). It’s off the menu and they’re fine with my specifications, in fact, I think they pretty much expect it from people.
Coffee. Black. Sometimes iced.
I never go to Starbucks. Too expensive and they treat their employees like shit.
Let me add that I only go to Scooters once every 2–3 weeks, if that.
I don’t go to Starbuck’s unless someone I’m with wants to go. I’m always frustrated I can’t get a normal black decaf tea. I often just get “tap” water.
My husband loves one of their sweet dessert-like coffees. I’m not sure if it is a capuchino or a macchiato? I’m pretty sure the latter. I don’t think he makes changes, it’s one offered on the menu. He goes maybe 6–8 times a year. Too expensive.
Starbuck’s lemon cake is delicious! They get my money once in a while for a slice of that cake.
